Local retirees build ‘pirate ship’ BY BREE LAUGHLIN The World

Ten years after starting the project, Steve and Janet Golly got to see the vision of their pirate ship come to fruition. The Serenity was transferred from the Charleston shipyard into the water for its’ maiden voyage in mid-May.

Airport offering local flights to Denver BY BREE LAUGHLIN The World

Seasonal flights to and from Denver, Colorado are being offered at the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport in North Bend every Wednesday and Sunday through Oct. 23, 2024.

The Southwest Oregon Regional Airport in North Bend is now offering seasonal commercial air service to and from Denver. The seasonal flights to Denver are being offered every Wednesday and Sunday through Oct. 23, 2024. The United Express flights are operated by Skywest. Round-trip daily service to San Francisco is also available. Airport representatives said they have experienced record-setting numbers of passengers in the last year who have been taking advantage of the local airports’ commercial flights. “The number of passengers filling available seats is continuing this year at a record pace,” said Airport Public Information Officer Stephanie Kilmer. New fire training tower unveiled at SWOCC BY BREE LAUGHLIN The World

Southwestern Oregon Community College recently celebrated the opening of a four story, state-of-the-art firefighting lab on campus. Local fire department personnel, along with SWOCC student firefighters, attended an open house on Thursday, May 23. They were joined by SWOCC President Patty Scott, as well as many local officials and community members.
