Siuslaw High School celebrates Homecoming Florence woman dies By TONY REED Siuslaw News

Though delayed a bit this year, students at Siuslaw High School spent the week celebrating homecoming while getting pumped up for the football team’s easy win against Sutherlin Oct. 18. Homecoming week likely resembled Halloween in the halls and classrooms as each day featured a costume theme. Monday saw, or didn’t see, students in camouflage. On Tuesday, the school was visited

by tacky tourists. Wednesday took SHS back to the Old West. On Thursday, superheroes were fighting crime on campus but on Friday, students showed their class colors. Woman arrested for mistreatment of in-care elder By TONY REED Siuslaw News

Florence Police Department confirmed a report that a local woman was arrested for mistreatment of an elderly person recently and that case will be heard in Lane County Circuit Court. “On (Oct.16) Adult Protective Services contacted the Florence Police to report a case of possible elder abuse by a care worker in the victim’s home,” according to a release by FPD. “Officers responded The Vikings mascot arrives with the crowns.

The Yachats Mushroom Festival saw a steady stream of people all weekend at the Yachats Commons and Pavillion on Oct. 20.
