Chaos Ensues at Harbor Meeting

Havoc prevailed at the last Crescent City Harbor Meeting, interrupting the conducting of business. A single individual who shall remain anonymous has a long history of defying rules of behavior in shouting out from the audience seat and when addressing commissioners, levies comments which allege corruption, lying, slanderous statements, pejorative language, exclaiming, “… the Harbor is going bankrupt and you’re all going to jail,” demonstrating anti-social, disruptive behavior. Though warned to cease this disruptive, petulant behavior by the Commission’s Chairman, Gerhard Weber, the aberrant behavior has ensued over several months if not years. The attacks on newly-appointed Harbormaster Mike Rademacker, calling for his dismissal are non-stop and cross over acceptable inter-facing with the Harbormaster and the five commissioners. Yurok Tribe to Receive Funding for Regional Wellness Center

The California Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program (BHCIP) announced the Yurok Tribe was selected to receive a $26.4 million grant to build the urgently needed Yurok Tribal Health and Wellness Center. The Tribe originally received
State Department of Health and Human Services staff announced the distribution of $3.3 billion for 124 behavioral health-related projects which included the Yurok Tribal Health and Wellness Center. The funding will increase access to mental healthcare. The funds will create 5,000 in-patient beds and 21,800 out-patient slots.
Another Big Drug and Weapons Bust for the Sheriff
The long-planned Yurok Health and Wellness Center comprises a 24,000 sq.ft building with 53 beds, including 23 for men and 20 for women. Services offered include primary care, behavioral health services to Yurok Tribal members and the surrounding community. Services will range from infants to elderly.
Del Norte Airport Director Transitions From Del Norte to Humboldt County Aviation

The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant on the 800 block of Murphy Avenue, last week. The warrant resulted in the seizure of 24 firearms, approximately nine lbs of marijuana, numerous boxes of ammunition, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Jack Pellitier, 39, Crescent City was taken into custody and booked into the Del Norte County Jail on the following charges: 30305 PC prohibited person from possessing ammunition; 29800(a)(1) PC, prohibited person on possession of a firearm; 18710(a) PC, possession of a destructive device. All the above are felonies. Sheriff Garrett Scott extended his gratitude and appreciation to his deputies and others who assisted in this investigation.
Border Coast Regional Airport Authority (BRCAA) Director Ryan Cooley at Jack McNamara Field (CEC) will be departing his role to take on the position of Humboldt County Director of Aviation. Cooley will continue to reside in Del Norte County and will assume his new position June 9. Cooley’s Office will be at the California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport (ACV), Joint AND in McKinleyville. The following occurred during Cooley’s tenure: • Runway 18-36 Rehabilitation • Improved Emergency Response- acquisition of Supervisors Air Rescue and Firefighting vehicle • Facilitating the selection of Advanced Air, new airline partner for Crescent City, service to
