Bike Pump Park Era Begins at Beach Front Park The entire City Council and staff was on-hand to inaugurate the track. Joe Gillespie of the Del Norte Trail Alliance welcomed a gathering estimated to be between 250-300 to the event. In 2017, Gillespie was the initial impetus in bringing the idea to the Chamber of Commerce, Board of Supervisors and City Council in helping bring a track to Crescent City. Despite the marginally dreary weather, hundreds of Pump bikers and skateboarders, families, friends and curious on-lookers attended the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Crescent City Pump track at Beach Front Park, last Saturday. The excitement and energy for this event were palpable. Scores of kids, mostly on bikes, tested their skills on the new track.

Is Sunset High Graduate,
Boxing Amateur Going Pro? BY ROGER GITLIN Country Media, Inc

In the politically correct world of she/her and he/him, this conundrum can become a bit confusing in the sports world of traditional male competition, sometimes. Sunset High 2018 graduate Kaylee-Ann Knight has the XX chromosome match that makes HER a female, the fairer sex gender and one who’s flourishing in the world of pugilism; moreover, Kaylee is an aspiring boxing phenom. Kaylee-Ann is undefeated (10-0) in her amateur boxing career and she may soon enter the professional ranks of this traditional XY (Male) boxing sport. Kaylee-Ann is a 2018 graduate from Sunset High who played basketball, volleyball and wrestled on the Del Norte High Boys team (before a girls team was established). She began boxing training with Ron Otremba at Warrior Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) in 2018 and Bryan Sargent her
mittman who taught her valuable boxing manuvers. In 2020, Kaylee-Ann moved down to Sausalito where she admitted the new environment was
a bit of a culture shock coming from small town Crescent City. Kaylee found her team of trainers at the Lions Den, in Pittsburg Please see GOING PRO Page 4
County Moves Forward on Fireworks Ordinance BY ROGER GITLIN Country Media, Inc.
Del Norte County is moving forward on adopting a Fireworks Ordinance. After unanimously voting to adopt a first-ever Fireworks Ordinance, a public hearing was held at the October 22 meeting and the Ordinance, when passed, effectuates 30 days from yesterday’s meeting. In the wake of the tragic July 4th illegal fireworks explosions on South Beach critically injuring a four year old child and 14 others, the Fireworks Ordinance creates a mechanism for the County to enforce California’s ban on “dangerous fireworks” through the administrative citation process. The ordinance governs the imposition, enforcement, collection and administrative fines, related to possession, use, storage, sale

and or display of those fireworks classified as dangerous fireworks the California Health and Safety Code, with the exception of a pyrotechnic licensee. The Ordinance bans ALL fireworks including Safe and Sane within Del Norte County campgrounds and Parks.
