The scholarship is offered in memory of Jim Ballweber by the Bowman County Crop Improvement Association. If awarded the scholarship, a check in the mount of $250.00 will be issued directly to your college.

Southwest Healthcare Services is seeking a Full-Time Paramedic to provide emergency medical care in pre-hospital settings and perform additional office, supply and maintenance duties related to EMS. Southwest Healthcare Services Receives $345,440 Grant

Funding Connects Rural Patients to Pharmacy Specialists
Patients of Southwest Healthcare Services will benefit from the latest technological advances that expand patients’ access to quality pharmacy services, made possible through a grant from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust.
The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust has awarded Southwest Healthcare Services $345,440 for ePharmacy, a program that gives physicians immediate access to pharmacists 24 hours a day. The grant will be used to purchase equipment that connects local physicians with pharmacists. Southwest Healthcare Services will receive equipment for ePharmacy, which is one area of eCare. ePharmacy provides 24-hour access to hospital-trained pharmacists, making it possible for all prescriptions to be reviewed prior to the patient taking the medication, even when the on-staff pharmacists are not available. “This incredible gift gives local physicians and health care workers an immediate connection to pharmacists even if they live in rural areas that have fewer physicians and health professionals,” says Becky Hansen, CEO of Southwest Healthcare Services. “This keeps patients close to home during treatment.” The Rural Healthcare Program of The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust began awarding grants in 2009. The Helmsley Trust has awarded more than $200 million in grants to nonprofit organizations in the region through the Rural Healthcare Program.
The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust, established in 1999, supports a diverse range of organizations with a major focus on health and medical research, human services, education, and conservation. To date, The Trust has announced more than one billion dollars in grants to charitable organizations since 2008. Southwest Healthcare Services’ Hospital has been providing care to southwest North Dakota and northwest South Dakota for over 60 years. SHS is committed to providing complete healthcare for a better tomorrow. SHS consists of 23 beds licensed by the state of North Dakota as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH), a Long-Term Care Facility, Home Care Services, Independent & Assisted Living Apartments, Emergency Ambulance Services, a Rural Medical Clinic and Emergency Services available 24 hours a day.

The drawing was held March 31st at Southwest Healthcare Services Chapel with about 30 people witnessing the event including the mixing of the raffle stubs after which Deb Bucholz, representing the Bowman County Development Corporation, announced the final number of tickets sold as 3173 netting $79,325 for Southwest Healthcare Services. Then Maija Olson drew out the single winning raffle ticket number 566 with the name of Loree Cook (Bismarck). The fact that Loree is Bert’s first cousin only seemed to add something special that the car will continue to stay in the Patterson family. God called Bert to use his F.R.O.G. car in a special way to witness to others. Bert had chose the license plate IFROG (I forever rely on God) and as the raffle plans started to come into place you could see God’s hands on the entire process. I felt that God was going to do something amazing with the raffle. As people wrote and called for tickets those that were selling the tickets heard many touching, heartwarming stories and words of encouragement. If that wasn’t proof enough, the final totals spoke volumes on the goodness of people and that God is alive and well in the hearts of His people. Thanks for making my husband’s wishes a reality. My God bless you as you have blessed me.
