Join the town of Cannon Beach on the first weekend in November for the Stormy Weather Arts Festival! The festival, taking after the usual stormy weather and King Tides in the fall to winter seasons on the coast, is as epic as the stormy season itself. This weekend will be packed with 44 different events, at 30+ different venues around Cannon Beach, which is sure to leave you inspired, surprised, and thrilled with delight at every corner. Come to befriend local, regional, and world-renowned artists as you stroll through Cannon Beach perusing gallery to gallery enjoying appetizers, wine, and conversation at the many artist receptions, gallery extended hours, and other special events. Many artists are putting on workshops, demonstrations, and performances all weekend long. There is truly something for the artist and art enthusiast in us all to discover. To keep you company as you walk from one event venue to the next, live music will be gracing the streets of Cannon Beach. 11 different musical acts playing on the streets, known as Buskers, will be featured at four different locations throughout town. This year’s poster features a Linocut art piece, “Stormy Weather Surf“, crafted by local artist and gallery owner, Drea Frost of Shearwater Studio & Gallery. Drea draws her inspiration from the ocean and the Oregon coastline which you can see is reflected in much of her artwork in her studio & gallery. The posters are available for purchase in two sizes, 12x18 the open edition, and 18x24 the limited edition. The open edition includes an artist’s bio on the back while the limited edition
is number and signed by the artist herself. The limited-edition posters were printed by Jeffrey Hull Gallery. Bronze Coast Gallery has been in operation for 30 years and represents over 40 artists from the northwest and beyond. Jane Dedecker
Jane DeDecker was born in Marengo, Iowa, and currently lives in Loveland, Colorado. She seeks to capture moments that reveal truths about the human condition, that, when stripped down to their essence, are understood intrinsically. As a figurative sculptor, she communicates emotional experiences through lyrical compositions that move the viewer.
Jim Eppler
Jim grew up in El Paso and later moved to Lubbock, Texas where he began his art career. He earned his degree from Texas Tech University, but much of his study came outside of the classroom with wildlife observation and photography. His bronze sculptures, mainly of animals, highlight subtle movement and have incredible life like detail.
J. Christopher White
Cary Henrie
Born in Utah, Cary Henrie studied art at Pratt University in New York. His artistic experiments have led him to develop dimensional abstract paintings, which function like sculptures for the wall. These curving, dynamic metallic works cast intriguing shadows and change light and color as the day and light changes. He currently resides in Bountiful, Utah.

Jane DeDecker
Robert grew up in Texas and attended Texas Tech University, beginning his career in fine jewelry making. His inspiration comes from Native American art, Oriental art, European art, and Indian lore. He creates his pieces from wax molds then fills them with silver or bronze. The result is highly detailed jewelry blended with spiritual and mystical symbolism.

J. Christopher White
J. Christopher White studied Wildlife Biology at Texas Tech University and human anatomy at the National Institute of Fine Arts in Mexico. He blends wood and bronze into a new medium, which he calls a “Bronzewood Meld”. The transition point between wood and bronze is nearly imperceptible. Chris currently resides in Loveland, Colorado.

Jeffrey Hull Gallery offers new originals and prints Jeffrey Hull started painting in his teens but focused on watercolor over 50 years ago and never looked back. His command of painting and love for the Pacific Northwest Coast places viewers of his work right into scenes of sandy beaches and dramatic cliffs draped in coastal mist. For over 35 years, Jeff and his wife Carol have been offering his paintings of the beautiful coast to both seasoned and brand-new collectors in their spacious second-floor gallery at Sandpiper Square in the heart of downtown Cannon Beach. Looking back fondly, Hull remembers ‘we were just kids’, when he speaks of opening the tiny 350-square foot space back in 1987. Over time, both the gallery and Jeff’s paintings have grown; he’s added oils to his repertoire; and he also now proudly produces his own high-quality reproductions in a beautiful space designed to showcase his work. If you haven’t been to the gallery (or haven’t been lately), stop by over the festival weekend to enjoy the Hulls’ warm hospitality and see new originals and prints by this gifted artist.

White Bird Gallery kicks off Stormy Weather Arts Festival with a new exhibition of paintings by Randall David Tipton. Tipton had his first solo show at White Bird Gallery in 1987, over the years he has developed a highly original painting style that stems from improvisation within the familiar. In some of his newest works Tipton incorporates elements of collage as bridge between landscape subjects and abstraction.

The festivities continue in the gallery all day Saturday November 4th, beginning with a morning demonstration by Colorado artist Valerie Savarie who creates intimate wall sculptures using vintage books as the centerpiece of her artwork. Watch Savarie transform books through cutting, carving and stitching the pieces, reinventing them into one-of-a-kind sculptures.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will draw, carve, paint, and print their very own block print piece. Guided step-by-step, you’ll be immersed in the details of this art form from carving your own block
to the technique of mixing ink and color-laying for the finished print. Each participant will carve their own block and have 1-2 final pieces printed to take home at the end of the workshop. Participants will be creating their own one-of-akind print of Haystack Rock. The 3-and-a-half hour hands-on workshop is $99 with a $15 materials fee to include inks, tools, and customizable woodblock for each participant. Karina Andrews is featured all around Cannon Beach and Clatsop County including having artwork at the Stephanie Inn. Sesame and Lilies will be featuring new works from Diane and Rachel Speakman in their upstairs art gallery. Diane Speakman’s work focuses on the Oregon and Maine coastlines, exploring the similarities and the defining details of each. Her work also encompasses portraits of wildlife and still lifes of local gardens. Rachel Speakman will display ceramic sculpture and oil paintings of wildlife and nature-inspired abstract paintings. The mother and daughter duo have collaborated on new artwork, having also expanded into Gearhart, recently opening Speakman Studios, a new gallery and multiuse art space.
