A plan calling for the implementation of a pay-to-park program in Newport’s Nye Beach District has been put on hold until next year. At a Newport City Council work session held in April, City Manager Nina Vetter asked council members to consider delaying implementation of the program until the summer of 2026, “so that we have some time to do some more community engagement and some more communications around why there is a need for parking plans, in particular paid parking, how those funds are used — really give us more time to inform, educate, have conversations with the community,

The League of Oregon Cities (LOC) has presented its Good Governance Award to the city of Lincoln City for its Schooner Creek Discovery Park project. The award recognizes progressive and innovative city operations and services. The cities of Chiloquin and Ashland were also present as co-recipients of the award.
