Last week, Del Norte Sheriff Garrett Scott and Curry County (OR) Sheriff John Ward announced a Hands Across the Border agreement to join forces to help combat drugs and stolen property crossing state lines. Two deputies from Del Norte and two deputies from Curry took their respective Oaths from Oregon and California. Cross Deputization will allow investigation teams to conduct operations jointly. Sheriff Scott said, “Teams from both counties can assist each other in search warrants to help identify suspects and stolen property as well as information exchange.” The extradition process remains unchanged with an arrestee going directly to jail within the jurisdiction the accused is arrested. An extradition warrant would follow.

Of the 19,020 registered voters in Curry County, 7,988 cast their ballot in this cycle, which is a voter participation rate of 42%. All results are pending official confirmation. These are preliminary figures.
