County Commissioners to Hold Town Hall Meeting on Illegal Camping Your Commissioners want to hear from YOU! The Curry County Board of Commissioners is hosting a Town Hall Meeting on Friday, January 16, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Harbor Grange Hall – 97985 Shopping Center Avenue, Brookings, Oregon. Representatives from the Curry County Sheriff’s Office, Curry County District Attorney, Oregon Department of Transportation, and Oregon State Police have been invited to attend as well. This Town Hall is being driven by continued community concerns regarding the
impacts of illegal camping and hazardous waste that is left behind by transients. These and other concerns need to be addressed in a manner that prioritizes public safety and respect for our community. - Do you have suggestions for services the County can offer to assist with these issues? - What impacts are you experiencing? - What are ways the County could pursue services, programs, or partnerships to address the issue?
- What public safety concerns would you like your Commissioners to prioritize? - How can your Commissioners best advocate for you? - What areas do you see as being a particular concern (South of the bridge, Shopping Center, South Bank Chetco River, etc.)? - How can the County improve communication with residents of Harbor regarding enforcement, services and resources?

By MIA MALDONADO Oregon Capital Chronicle Federal immigration agents arrested at least 1,100 people in Oregon this year, immigration experts estimate — a surge from the 113 arrests recorded in all of 2024. In August, the Trump administration said it would “come after” states like Oregon with laws preventing local law enforcement from coordinating with federal immigration officials. Since then, Oregon’s been at the forefront of President Donald Trump’s renewed immigration enforcement efforts. From Trump’s attempt to deploy Oregon National Guard troops to Portland in the spring, to the state’s largest Latino labor union and a Portland immigration law firm suing his administration alleging it is blocking attorneys from accessing detained clients — the Beaver State in 2025 repeatedly drew the administration’s attention.
