Southwest Healthcare ‘has a plan,’ CEO says

Pioneer Editor bmartin@countrymedia.net A serious, unexpected issue recently arose for Southwest Healthcare Services as the announcement came that its three doctors would not be renewing their contracts with the hospital. The news was enough to presumably cause a crisis considering the hospital’s ongoing work to secure its future in the community. But Southwest Healthcare CEO Meadows Becky Hansen heralded no cause for panic. “I think you can go into a crisis mode, but then you have to immediately get out of it because it’s a challenge we need to meet,” Hansen said in an interview with the Pioneer on Tomboulian Wednesday. “But we have to look at it as an opportunity, too.” Still, she noted that it’s a “CEO’s worst nightmare.” Dr. David Meadows and his wife, Dr. Sherryl Tomboulian, approached Hansen in late Au- Lanchbury gust to give notice that they were moving on to other opportunities elsewhere. Just two weeks later, Hansen received the same knock on her office door from Dr. Forrest Lanchbury, who announced he was to leave the hospital as well. “Opportunities came up for pretty much [each] one of them,” Hansen confirmed. “They probably weren’t actively seeking, but someone sought them out.” That leaves the future of Southwest Healthcare and its patients in a precarious situation.
