These floats are hand crafted by artists and left for you to take home as a memory of your travels.

elcome, welcome to Lincoln City. Enjoy the amenities that now surround you. Lincoln City is a great place to use as a base camp for your visit to the Central Oregon Coast. Don’t be confused as to the beginning and ending of Lincoln City. We have a 7 ½ mile main street broken into “Pearls” or business districts and attached along a “string” called Hwy. 101. Each Pearl is unique and definitely worth exploring. Our business community with shops and restaurants welcome you. Discover the charm of each Pearl and imagine what they were like long ago when they were individual towns. The Outlet Mall is continually adding new stores as well so even if you have been there before, be sure to see what’s new. 6
Don’t forget to enjoy our other natural beauties like our fresh water lake, two great fishing rivers, urban forests with easy walking trails plus more challenging hiking trails on Cascade Head and The Knoll. Siletz Bay can be a great place to practice your skills at crabbing and clamming or enjoy the view from the Taft Dock. The Community Center and indoor pool, The Cultural Center with its classes, events and concerts, the Bijou Theatre, the Bowling Alley and even the Game Over Arcade are all fun places to check out just in case the weather does not cooperate! n a summer weekend, our little town of 8,500 people all of a sudden has another 20,000 or so guests over for dinner. So, why are they all here? Well, for one thing, it’s because we live in a stunningly beautiful area. Our moderate climate is a relief to those sweltering elsewhere. Lincoln City has and amazing seven and a half miles of beach with seven and a half miles of town to go with it. We’re big enough to explore and still small enough to have charm. We’re just a great place to visit in addition to being a great place to live. Our guests make Lincoln City a great place to live. They use hard earned savings to enjoy, just for a few days, what we have all year. In 2018, guests to our town spent nearly $80 million on hotel rooms and vacation rentals alone and helped fund our police, water, streets and parks in addition to supporting local jobs. In fact, the average travel party here spends about $211 a day, $613 over the course of their stay. A lot of what we get to enjoy all year long…restaurants, shops, theaters…wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for our guests.

rograms such as Finders Keepers have put Lincoln City on the map. This unique treasure hunt provides the magic of the hunt with the thrill of discovery. With over 3,000 glass floats out on the beach each year, it’s hard to resist the chance to find and keep a Lincoln City memory. When selecting a vacation destination, people have many options. Finders Keepers helps point them to Lincoln City, which is why we encourage residents to leave floats for our guests. We also hope that our guests only find and keep one float per year, spreading the wealth to all who visit.

he central Oregon Coast is remarkably beautiful, and it is no surprise that the rest of Oregon comes here to play, vacation and relax. Lincoln City has so much to offer! Nestled between the ocean, the lake, the bay and the river, we enjoy a plethora of municipal and more rugged hiking trails, along with a variety of water sports. You can walk your dog on the beach, fly a kite, or search for glass float treasures. You can watch the deer, sea lions, elk, or whales. You can surf, paddleboard, or kayak. There is always something to do outdoors here. Lincoln City also boasts a vibrant live music, cultural, and arts scene. We have the Slietz Bay Music Festival at one end and the world renowned Sitka Center for Art and Ecology at the other. And between the two is our Lincoln City Cultural Center with classes, concerts, art shows, and a vibrant farmers market. Looking for something bigger? Chinook Winds brings in big names with affordable, close seats. The Connie Hansen Garden is one of my favorite spots to wander in town with changing colors every season. The North Lincoln County Historical Museum is another fascinating stop that rotates exhibits frequently. And right next door, you can watch glassware being made or blow your own float at the Jennifer Sears Art Glass Studio. 8
We have a new hospital designed for future health care needs. We have a Factory Outlet Mall for name brand shopping close to home. And we have a wonderful library a town twice our size would be proud of. We can also be proud of our vibrant volunteer community that keeps Lincoln City active, aware, and meaningful. All of this is supported by a small business community buoyed by an active Chamber and an energetic Small Business Development Center. We offer unique shopping, antiques, and remarkable restaurants. We have large grocery stores and specialty food vendors. We have more ocean-front lodging than any city between Seattle and San Francisco. Thinking about tele-commuting or entrepreneurism? You could work anywhere. Why not at the beach? And the big city is just two hours away. In short, Lincoln City is a special place to live, work, or retire. Come and join us! Be Beach Smart
O
ur coast is a fascinating and beautiful place to visit, possessing some of the most scenic vistas in the world. Much of this beauty has been made by seasonal rains, pounding waves, and seismic activity. With the magical sound of the waves, the feel of the sand under your feet, and the smell of the ocean as you explore tide pools or hunt for shells or glass floats, it’s easy to forget just how powerful the ocean is and make mistakes that can turn a pleasant day at the beach into a life-changing experience. Tragic water accidents can happen quickly, and the most common reason is a lack of safety knowledge. “Be Beach Smart” and follow these safety tips: • Follow Oregon State Parks warnings and regulations. • Learn to swim but keep children out of the ocean; remember the ocean is not a swimming pool. There are plenty of designated swimming areas at Devil’s Lake, and pools at hotels/motels and at the Community Center. • Never play at the beach, at the lake, or in a pool alone. • Supervise children closely near any body of water. • Keep pets on a leash while at the beach. • Don’t rely on blow-up floatation devices such as rafts or tubes, as you may lose them in the water or they may deflate. • Children should wear USCG-approved floatation vests even while playing near the water. • If caught in a rip current, swim sideways until free and then towards shore; don’t swim against the current’s pull. • Protect your head, neck, and spine -- don’t dive into unfamiliar waters -- walk in feet first the first time. • Avoid using glass containers at the beach -- broken glass and bare feet don’t mix.
• Keep beach fires small and only in designated areas -- fire residue and superheated sand can severely burn bare feet. Be sure to thoroughly extinguish all fires with water before leaving. • Do NOT play on logs near the surf –it only takes 4” of water to move a 5-ton log. • Stay clear of coastal bluffs as they can collapse and cause injury. • Never dig in the sand deeper than your knees and never tunnel into sand as it can collapse on you. • Never turn your back to the ocean -- you may be swept off coastal bluffs, jetties, or tide pool areas and into the water by “sneaker waves” that can come without warning. • If you are in trouble, call or wave for help, and if you see someone in trouble call 9-1-1! A Brief History of Theatre West, Ltd. the property to Theatre West and Jack became our first Artistic Director. Over the years Theatre West has been honored, both on stage and off. The theatre was the first community theatre to obtain permission for the smash hits Lend Me a Tenor, by Ken Ludwig and I Hate Hamlet, by Paul Rudnick. Our highest honor remains being allowed to present an excerpted version of William Luce’s Tony winning play, Bell of Amherst, directed by the author for the dedication of our own Driftwood Library at their new location.
I
t was in 1975 that The American Association of University Women felt that it was time that our community form a local theatre group. It took several meetings and some serious discussions for the name Theatre West to be agreed upon. The first production was a one-act play presented at The Surftides Restaurant.

As we begin each new season, Theatre West can look back at our last season with pride. From new productions to revivals of beloved favorites, the stage was filled with great entertainment throughout the year.
In 1979 the group became officially incorporated as a non-profit community theatre and took the formal name of Theatre West of Lincoln City, Ltd. In the beginning, Theatre West presented plays wherever they could find a friendly stage. Local restaurants, schools and other facilities were gracious enough to allow the Theatre to “tread the boards” in their establishments.
Theatre West provides its members and the community-at-large opportunities to act in our productions, work behind the scenes on sets, costumes, sound, stage set-up and in publicity, as well as greeting our audiences at our performances. There is always room for someone new to join our thespian circle - perhaps you? Welcome to Theatre West of Lincoln City. We hope you enjoy our performances and that you will consider becoming a member of our Theatre. Please plan to join us at future productions and come to know the magic that is theatre.

incoln County School District (LCSD) is a great place for kids and families! We have 14 schools and Dr. Karen Gray 5500 students living in our beautiful county. The LCSD has 55 miles of scenic coastline. Our county has everything from majestic hills to bluest ocean, from verdant forests to peaceful lakes and rivers.
