Q&A: Triple Tigers 2.0
Established in 2016 as a three-way partnership between Thirty Tigers, Sony RED and Triple 8 Management led by David Macias, George Couri and Norbert Nix, Triple Tigers last week shed that model for a new ... wait for it ... three-headed leadership structure. Couri and Co-Presidents Kevin Herring and Annie Ortmeier explain the new vision below. CA: What does the new top line look like? Is Thirty Tigers still involved? GC: It’s just The Orchard (formerly Sony RED) and Triple 8. David called me to get this going seven years ago. He remains one of my best friends and I’m sure will remain an ally. Is Triple 8’s role in the label changing? GC: Triple 8 was a little more involved in the very beginning as David and I were figuring things out. But we got Triple Tigers staffed to the point Triple 8 and Thirty Tigers became pretty passive. David and I would lean in on signings, but we had Norbert, Kevin in promotion and the marketing team. See the profile of fellow inductee Kix Brooks here. Growing up in Bristol, TN I remember listening to WLS/Chicago. At age 10 I started playing my grandmother’s guitar and took to it quickly. When I was 12 I decided I’d be happy doing anything with music – creating it or being surrounded by it.
