Last week’s 56th Annual CMA Awards (11/9) drew strong opinions from radio pros both in the house and in their houses. •Cox/Houston Dir./Operations Travis Moon: “Peyton Manning is so freaking good at this, and he and Luke Bryan were great together. At times, the hosts kind of disappeared; I wanted more Peyton, please! This was a benchmark show, and when building future CMA Awards, I hope they remember this template. I wish I could have been there live. I absolutely geeked out on Patty Loveless performing! She is a legend and one of the greatest female artists of all time. That song and performance was show-stopping.” •Music Choice Sr. Mgr./Programming Jim Murphy: “Why isn’t Patty Loveless on Country radio today? Can someone find her a song or collaboration, please? “Single of the Year is the one I wanted. That’s a team victory. That’s Warner Music Nashville pushing my first No. 1 doubleplatinum single, and it couldn’t have gone better. As far as Male Vocalist goes, when you’re in a category with Chris Stapleton, you kinda already know who’s going to win.” –Cody Johnson “It’s no news to people that John and I have very different opinions than a lot of people in our format. But we’ve seen fans show up and people appreciate we are who we are. Particularly with me coming out, there are people Cody Johnson that maybe don’t agree with it but
