Next Meeting Wednesday 27th July At Waiuku Cossie Club Meeting starts at 7.30pm You do not need to be a Cossie Club member to attend. All CSFC members and guests welcome. Why not come early and take advantage of the great food on offer at the Cossie Club.

Counties Sport Fishing Club We are a family friendly West coast club based in Waiuku, just south of Auckland. With around 1000 members, trailer boats make up the majority of our fleet. Celebrating fishing of all kinds, from the humble Gurnard to the mighty Broadbill. Club waters span from Raglan north head to Kaipara south head and include the Manukau harbour and Waikato river.

Bits & Bobs Prizegiving 2022 Unfortunately we had to cancel last years prizegiving due to Covid, so we will need to make this years even bigger. We also have the Varta Cup win to celebrate this year, so it promises to be a great day. Book the day, 17th September from around 2pm onwards. It will be held at the Cossie Club. More details closer to the date in the newsletter and on our Facebook page.

2022 AGM This years AGM will be held on 31st August, at the Cossie club. More details nearer the time,but another date to put in your diary.

Counties Classic 2023 Last years Classic was yet another Covid casualty, but it’s back next year -promising to be even bigger and better than ever. Next years event is planned for the 3rd to the 5th of March, so another date to get in the diary.

Charity Donations In the past we have donated to charities fairly regularly, particularly those that support our members. With everything being thrown into disarray over the last couple of years this hasn’t happened as regularly as it could have. At the last committee meeting it was proposed and passed that a donation of $1000 each should be made by the club to the Westpac Chopper, St Johns and Waiuku Coastguard. While we all hope to never need the assistance of any of these groups, the fact they are there and have our backs should any of us get into difficulty on or off the water is always reassuring.

Great to see some Counties fishers getting out and about, Brian Geck down at Waihau bay with a nice SBT.

Junior Nationals 2023 The Junior Nationals were held for the first time this year, and they are back again next year. They are held over the two week Easter school holidays to give people the best opportunity to get out fishing. This will be the 7th to the 22nd of April 2023. We will be holding our family day competition on the 16th April so that any of our juniors taking part in the nationals can also fish this competition.

Big Green Shed Following on from last months report of the work being done at the green shed, the bar leaners and lower infill to the side of the shed has been progressing. We have now ordered the new clears that will fill the gap between the top of the bar leaners and the roof. These will be removable, so that when not in use they can be stored in the container. Hopefully this will prevent them being stolen. Crime is still an issue for us, after the clears were stolen we installed CCTV to try and prevent more thefts. But the CCTV equipment has now been stolen, given that it was mounted near the top of the roof they must have been pretty determined.

Nationals 2023 The dates for next years nationals have been announced as the 18th to 25th February 2023. Yet another date to put in the diary.

The Manukau Harbour I doubt that there is a member of this club that has not fished in the Manukau harbour at some time. A few years ago Watercare developed a hydrodynamic model of the harbour that may be of interest if you have not seen it before.

A few facts about the harbour. Up to 3 million years ago the Waikato river flowed into the harbour. The shore is 460km long and the surface area of the harbour is 365 square kilometres. The volume of the spring tide is 221.5 million cubic metres.
