Counties Sport Fishing Club We are a family friendly West coast club based in Waiuku, just south of Auckland. With around 1000 members, trailer boats make up the majority of our fleet. Celebrating fishing of all kinds, from the humble Gurnard to the mighty Broadbill. Club waters span from Raglan north head to Kaipara south head and include the Manukau harbour and Waikato river.

The onsite technicians are experts in Mercury, Etech, Evinrude & Johnson servicing and repairs as well as Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda. They can also fit new or used outboard engines and do trailer repairs, springs, winches and rollers.

Bits & Bobs The latest work to be carried out at the Hoods Landing boat ramp can be seen to the right. What you can’t see is that the hole was also filled in, so hopefully this will make launching a little easier. Thanks to Bert, Bruza, Dougie and Pat for their hard work.
It’s not all been about game fishing this month, there has been plenty of great fishing in the harbour too. Marcel caught these fish, the snapper weighing 3.08 Kg

Lance Davis took out a bunch of first time anglers on KycaCola. Looks like they had a pretty good day.

It’s always great to see our younger members getting out there. Here’s Amelia with a great king fish. It wasn’t weighed but was 86cm long. She caught this from the shore in the harbour using a live bait. Dougie took Corban out in the harbour, where he caught this snapper -so big he needed help holding it up for the photo, 6.49 Kg.

Coastguard Parking Just a reminder that the first parking space at Te Toro is reserved for the use of Coastguard boats only. It is clearly marked and the only parking space with gravel on it. It is important to keep this space free for Coastguard to park in, especially when they need to launch in an emergency when every second counts. Please keep this space clear, as you can see from the photo below this is not always happening at the moment.

Here's a quick guide to ensure you're on the mark with your double, leader, and equipment lengths for the Nationals. Top Shot Rule: If using a top shot, remember to have a minimum of 5m of mainline directly preceding the double line, leader, or hook. For 10kg Line and Under: Maximum double line or leader length is 4.57m. The combined length of double line and leader must not exceed 6.1m. For 15kg Line and Over: Maximum length of double line or leader is 9.14m. The combined length of double line and leader must not exceed 12.19m. Gaffs and Nets: Max fixed gaff or net length is 2.44m. Max flying gaff overall length is also 2.44m. Max effective flying gaff rope/tail rope/choke rope length extends up to 9.14m. Tag Poles: Max tag pole length is 3.66m. Tips to avoid a DQ. Measure any pre rigged purchases, many are made overseas and vary in length compared to what it says on the packet! Leaders stretch, allow for this in your calculations. Make sure to follow these guidelines to stay within the regulations. Tight lines and good luck in the Nationals!

LENGTH RECORDS we need a clear photo of the fish on the approved measure, which are available for $25. The photo must be of the whole fish lying on its side with the mouth touching the head of the measure. We will need details of where it was caught and the name of the angler.
