Next Meeting Wednesday 30th March At Waiuku Cossie Club Meeting starts at 7.30pm You will need to abide by covid regulations to enter the Cossie club. You do not need to be a Cossie Club member to attend All CSFC members and guests welcome. Why not come early and take advantage of the great food on offer at the Cossie Club.

Counties Sport Fishing Club We are a family friendly West coast club based in Waiuku, just south of Auckland. With around 1000 members, trailer boats make up the majority of our fleet. Celebrating fishing of all kinds, from the humble Gurnard to the mighty Broadbill. Club waters span from Raglan north head to Kaipara south head and include the Manukau harbour and Waikato river.

Marlin Money
This was a great competition, with lots of boats out chasing the prizes. But there are only two winners in this competition. Heaviest Weighed Marlin: Taking out the heaviest fish and collecting $2300 with a Striped marlin weighing 97.8kg Caught by Tyler Forrest is Team Reel Work Skippered by Kevin James. Most Tagged Marlin: A well deserved most tagged fish with two tagged fish for the day and collecting the remaining $2300 is Team Spare Cash the Father and two son trio with Kayne on the Helm! Congratulations to Aaron Saunderson for cranking them both in. Congratulations also go to: Shaun Passau on Beats Working 1x T/R S/m Nils Mcgee on Gillian 1x T/R S/m 8

Team “Out West” had a great day out fishing recently with Craig Hull, a prize from last years Fish N’ Chicks competition. They all enjoyed the day, although I can’t see any fish in the pictures.

Southern Bluefin Tuna
Southern Bluefin Tuna Catch on the West Coast We’ve had reports of southern bluefin tuna being caught in areas where they historically have not been caught before, particularly up and down the west coast of the North Island. As these fish are new to this area, recreational fishers may not be aware of what they are catching, or of the daily limits for this species. Some fishers have misidentified them as albacore or yellowfin tuna which have different catch limits. The recreational daily limit for southern bluefin tuna is one fish per angler. Southern bluefin are identified by their unusually short pectoral fins, as well as the second dorsal fin which stands taller and stiffer than the first dorsal fin. It is important that if you are fishing on the North Island’s west coast that you are aware of the identifying features of these fish and the daily bag limit of one per fisher. Fishing Competition Following the success of the recent Marlin Money Competition we are doing it again, but this time including harbour fishing.
$120 per boat for Marlin $60 per boat for in-harbour Snapper and Gurnard Marlin prize pool will be split between heaviest weighed fish and most tagged fish Harbour prize pool will be split between heaviest Snapper and heaviest Gurnard
This will be a two day competition, you can fish both days or either day. You could enter both competitions and do one day in the harbour and one day over the bar game fishing, but all snapper and gurnard must be caught in the harbour. All fish weighed from either day will be eligable for the prize. th th

Junior Trophies As you know, due to the covid restrictions we were not able to have our prizegiving last year. But Shane Johnston was determined to try and deliver as many of the junior trophies as possible. LENGTH RECORDS we need a clear photo of the fish on the approved measure, which are available for $25. The photo must be of the whole fish lying on its side with the mouth touching the head of the measure. We will need details of where it was caught and the name of the angler.
