Counties Sport Fishing Club We are a family friendly West coast club based in Waiuku, just south of Auckland. With around 1000 members, trailer boats make up the majority of our fleet. Celebrating fishing of all kinds, from the humble Gurnard to the mighty Broadbill. Club waters span from Raglan north head to Kaipara south head and include the Manukau harbour and Waikato river.

The onsite technicians are experts in Mercury, Etech, Evinrude & Johnson servicing and repairs as well as Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda. They can also fit new or used outboard engines and do trailer repairs, springs, winches and rollers.

Fish ‘N Chicks Returns Great news for anyone who was missing this great competition. After a couple of years off due to various issues it is now back for 2024. The date you need to put in your diary is 2nd March. There will be the usual range of amazing prizes up for grabs, so start getting your teams ready.

Biotoxin Alerts There is a biotoxin alert for shellfish in place for the west coast around Kawhia for paralytic shelfish poisoning. Always check for alerts in the area you are in if you are out gathering shellfish over the holidays, especially if you are in an area you are not familiar with. All alerts can be found HERE.

This year our surfcasting competition lasted for most of November, with entrants in the competition being able to fish as many or as few days as they wanted. This format seemed to work well, giving more people a chance to enter as they were not tied to fishing oncertain days. The prizegiving for this event took place at out November meeting and these are the great prizes that were on offer to the winners. Thanks to our generous sponsors this prize pool was worth $5,500. There was also a lucky draw prize which was for all entrants and we had a raffle on the night with a rod and reel combo up for grabs.

Lance Peach Counties sport fishing club would like to pass on our sincere condolences to the Peach family. Lance Peach, longtime member and sponsor of our club.

Lance was involved in the
development of the west coast marlin fishery in the early days of the club. Raftups at the blowhole on the Manukau harbour are fondly remembered,
they
were
an
almost
compulsory event at the end of a day’s game fishing. Even after progressing onto Launches and fishing mainly on the east coast out of the Bay of islands Swordfish club, Lance still loved to fly the Counties flag for the NZSFC Nationals tournament. With a motley crew made up of a changing cast of Counties members,
his

regularly
featuring in the nationals’ honours list as well as taking out top boat for Counties many years running. Dearly missed and never forgotten, many of our members have shared good times with a great man over the years. Our thoughts are with you Newline, Mack, Amber and the kids.

LENGTH RECORDS we need a clear photo of the fish on the approved measure, which are available for $25. The photo must be of the whole fish lying on its side with the mouth touching the head of the measure. We will need details of where it was caught and the name of the angler.
