Bring your own food and drink BBQ available to cook on Counties Sport Fishing Club We are a family friendly West coast club based in Waiuku, just south of Auckland. With around 1000 members, trailer boats make up the majority of our fleet. Celebrating fishing of all kinds, from the humble Gurnard to the mighty Broadbill. Club waters span from Raglan north head to Kaipara south head and include the Manukau harbour and Waikato river.

Bits & Bobs
Dive flags are used to let other boaties know that they need to look out and slow down. If you’re within 200m of a dive flag, you must keep to 5 knots or less.

Police are conducting regular checkpoints at Karioitahi Beach in response to recent reports of illegal driving activity. You’ll see us present throughout summer, and anyone found not complying with the rules will be turned away. Here are the important things you need to know: Any vehicle must have a permit from Auckland Council to access the beach Any vehicle (including dirt bikes) using the beach MUST be registered and have a current warrant of fitness Karioitahi Beach is a designated road, and that means all the normal road rules apply (speed restrictions and wearing of safety equipment - like helmets) If Police find you in breach of these requirements you will be liable for an infringement or enforcement action.

First Mortgage Trust will provide 8 x $250 vouchers as a daily lucky angler prize and 3 club prizes. These will be in the form of a donation of 1st $1,000, 2nd $750 and 3rd $500 to the winning club as a donation for the purposes of betterment of the club. 6
For the 2021 Nationals we are having custom made shirts for teams from Counties who are entering. These will only be available to participants in the competition. The cost will be $65 for shirts and $55 for singlets plus $25 entrance fee for the Nationals 2021. Boat names on the rear of the shirt will be updated to reflect the entrants in 2021, last years entrants shown as an example. You can choose a long sleeved shirt, polo shirt or singlet and they are available in mens or ladies fit in sizes from XS to 6XL -sizing chart at bottom of page. So these can be printed in time for the competition orders MUST be placed and paid for by 20th December. Orders can be placed on the Sporty App, via our web site or at the November club meeting. Shirts are under merchandise and Nationals entry is under events registration.

Every Kiwi needs to see this.. An amazing eye opener. A very well researched and presented doco! thanks to all for making it.....it is well beyond time that the QMS was taken out the back and shot and from those ashes build an actual "world leading" example of fisheries management. The formula for a better future is already available...check out... RESCUE FISH Great doco guys. I encourage everyone to watch fully. Excellent eye opening doco. Im fully in support of an overhaul of the quota management system, as a kiwi im not sure where to go from here. Im sure 95% of kiwis are also in support... what do we need to do to help?

Proposed Changes Auckland Council are proposing to make some changes to the navigation safety bylaws. These changes are currently open for public consultation, so if you have any strong feeling son them now is your chance to let the council know.

Helping to protect the public Every day people use Auckland’s navigable waters for both recrea�on and business, for example boa�ng, kayaking, kite boarding, swimming, fishing, and ferrying people and cargo. The number of people and variety of uses of Auckland’s navigable waters can increase the risk of accidents, nuisance and damage. For example, jet skis in swimming areas, illegally moored vessels and explosive cargo.
What Auckland Council does We make rules to minimise the risk of accidents, nuisance and damage within Auckland’s navigable waters. The exis�ng rules are set in the Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau Ture ā-Rohe Urungi Āhuru 2014 / Auckland Council Naviga�on Safety Bylaw 2014 and associated controls. These rules are in addi�on to na�onal rules contained in the Mari�me Transport Act 1994 and Mari�me Rules (in par�cular Part 91). We also rely on other legisla�on to protect marine mammals (Marine Mammals Protec�on Act 1978), to protect the environment (Resource Management Act 1991) and for the safe use of vessels for hire (Health and Safety at Work Adventure Ac�vi�es) Regula�ons 2016).
Improving navigation rules We recently checked how the rules are working and iden�fied improvements. The main proposals are to: •
increase the maximum speed limit on the Waitemata Harbour Zone to 18 knots to allow faster movement of vessels (including public transport vessels), but still ensure travel at a safe speed
•
clarify exis�ng rules, including about swimming, events and support vessels
•
make new rules about novel cra� (for example a motorised sur�oard)
•
make new specified areas and condi�ons of use for Tamaki Entrance and Commercial Port Area
•
amend exis�ng rules about carrying a means of communica�on on vessel, to carrying at least two independent forms of communica�on on a vessel
•
align rules about the use of Ōrākei Basin with current accepted prac�ces
•
remove rules about licensing of commercial vessels for hire and marine mammal protec�ons as these are more appropriately addressed in separate legisla�on
•
update the format and wording of the rules to be easier to read and understand.

LENGTH RECORDS we need a clear photo of the fish on the approved measure, which are available for $25. The photo must be of the whole fish lying on its side with the mouth touching the head of the measure. We will need details of where it was caught and the name of the angler.
