Bring your own food and drink BBQ available to cook on Counties Sport Fishing Club We are a family friendly West coast club based in Waiuku, just south of Auckland. With around 1000 members, trailer boats make up the majority of our fleet. Celebrating fishing of all kinds, from the humble Gurnard to the mighty Broadbill. Club waters span from Raglan north head to Kaipara south head and include the Manukau harbour and Waikato river.

Bits & Bobs IMPORTANT NOTE : Membership Cards When you join or renew your membership you will be sent out a membership card for the season. These cards are printed for us and to keep costs down membership cards are sent out to be printed in batches. This means that it may take several weeks for your card to come through to you. If you need your membership card for a competition or to access other game fishing clubs do not leave it until the week before you need it to renew your membership as you won’t have a membership card when you need it. Why not just renew now and make sure you have your card in time for when you need it.

First West Coast Marlin Sadly not caught on a club boat, but congratulations to team BlackJack for landing the first West Coast marlin on Sunday 15th December. They are definately out there, so time to dust off the gear and get out amongst it. The chase is on for the first marlin acoss the scales from a club boat.
One of the kingfish that Mitchel and Dion caught on the measuring mat. The kingfish are in the harbour in good numbers at the moment, so its a great time to get out there if you want to catch one. If you ask Steve Watts nicely he might give you his kingfish curry recipe.

Working Bee We are planning to have a working bee at te toro to make sure everything is ready for the upcoming competitions. It will be on the 18th or 19th of January. Keep an eye on our facebook page for confirmation of the date closer to the time.
Colin Mariner caught this nice specimin, which weighed in at 2.08kg.

16 - 29 February 2020
The briefing will be at the Cossie club on Wednesday the 19th of February starting at 7.30pm. You will be able to register your team and tags will be available for purchase. There will also be copies of the 2020 NZSFC handbook available, which should also be available online like last year so you can download it to your mobile device and take it out fishing with you to check out the rules.
Last year Counties did really well, coming in as the second place club in our region and third place in the country. We also had individuals and teams from Counties coming in first place for striped marlin, shortbill spearfish, striped marlin on 15kg line, most tagged and released striped marlin and shortbill spearfish.

Club Logo
We have had our current club logo for a very long time, and we would like to update it with a new one. We are hoping that somewhere amongst our members there may be someone who could come up with a new logo for us. If someone comes up with a logo that we use there will be a prize, we are not quite sure what it will be yet –but it will definitely be worthwhile. The logo needs to represent the club, so think about the fish we target, being based on the West Coast, trailer boat game fishing, and anything else you think represents Counties. For it to work as a logo it needs to be relatively simple, otherwise we won’t be able to embroider it onto garments –so no photographs. Apart from that you can do pretty well anything you like.
We will accept entries in just about any format, the absolute ideal would be a vector based computer graphic file. But don’t be put of having a go even if all you have is a bit of paper and a pencil –we can get it put onto computer quite easily. Important Copyright Notice The logo obviously needs to be your own work, and must not make use of any image that may be subject to copyright.

LENGTH RECORDS we need a clear photo of the fish on the approved measure, which are available for $25. The photo must be of the whole fish lying on its side with the mouth touching the head of the measure. We will need details of where it was caught and the name of the angler.
