Presidents Report Well that went quick. We are now getting some fishing friendly weather at last. With the water temp nudging 21 degrees I’ll need to remember to keep my weighstation key in the car. I’m hoping the good weather will continue and align itself with my days off so I can get out. I’ll be around most of the Christmas break & New Year’s period if anyone has a fish to weigh but we are well served with weighmasters and I’m sure someone will be available. I suggest you save their numbers to your phone now, it makes it a lot easier to track a weighmaster down if you can call direct. No doubt sometime in the new year we will have a working bee at Te Toro, we will advertise something on our facebook page, usually we don’t need too many people but it’s always good to have a few hands to help. That’s all I have right now (mostly because I promised Kevin this report ages ago and I’m furiously typing before I head off to work). Stay safe on the water, have a merry Xmas and a happy new year! Boat Check Forms If you haven’t filled out a boat check form for this season, then it’s time you did. You can get the form here or use the copy in this newsletter.
Address List If you have not already done so please log into Clubhub and check your address. Mentioning no names, but if you list you address as “Waiuku, South Auckland” it’s unlikely that you are going to get your membership card sent out.
Buy and Sell As a service to members we would like to have a buy and sell section in the newsletter. This would be for Counties Sportfishing Club members only and would be for private sales. Twenty Pounder Ian Wildman caught this awesome snapper off Horn Rock in the Gulf. It was 76cm long and weighed 9.4kg, or just over twenty and a half pounds in old money.

Here’s a quick look back over the newsletters of 2018. Did you make the cover this year? If not then please send in your photos next year, and you too could be world famous (in Waiuku). As well as the obvious marlin, we’ve also had snapper, kingfish, gurnard, kahawai (well, a bit of one anyway), bass and crayfish grace the cover. We’re always keen to feature other more unusual species so send us your snaps.

First of Summer Congratulations to Jim, Mike and the crew on Kilvay for landing the first Marlin of summer at Whitianga on Sunday 16th December. It was 101.69kg, so not a bad start to the season at all. Who’s going to be the first to bring one across club scales? They are probably out there waiting for you right now.

Committee This months committee meeting was our annual committee dinner, so not much official business was discussed. But the various competition sub-committees have been hard at work getting everything ready for next years competitions, with entries for the Classic and Fish N’ Chicks both now open.

LENGTH RECORDS we need a clear photo of the fish on the approved measure, which are available for $25. The photo must be of the whole fish lying on its side with the mouth touching the head of the measure. We will need details of where it was caught and the name of the angler.
