Feel it hot, hot, hot!
If you are hoping for any kind of respite from the heat, unfortunately it won´t be this week. The sweltering heat is due to remain until the weekend, with even night-time temperatures stayed above 25 degress. The maximum temperatures continued to rise yesterday across the province of Alicante. Municipalities such as Villena, which will reach 38
degrees; Alcoy will be around 36 degrees and locally in Orihuela and Elche maximum temperatures of 35 degrees are expected. In the provincial capital of Alicante the thermometers will hit Scorchio 33 degrees.
Thermometers will soar above 35 degrees Celsius at various points, especially in inland towns, where the maximum will be close to 40 degrees with today and Wednesday being particular scorchers. On these two days the heat will get even harder and Aemet has activated alerts for temperatures of 40 degrees throughout the province of Alicante. A broad mid- and high-level anticyclone, spreading from the central Mediterranean towards the Iberian Peninsula, will begin this Monday to induce a flow from the south, introducing a mass of very warm, dry and stable air, with similar characteristics to that already produced by a heat wave at the beginning of last week. Given the high insolation that we have at this time of year, there will be a new rise in temperatures and a new episode of suffocating heat will be generated that will last, at least, until next Thursday.
