Education Councillor slated for Orihuela Costa school fiasco

The PSOE and Cambiemos municipal groups in Orihuela have formally requested that the Councillor for Education, Vicente Pina, appear before the City Council to explain what they describe as the “disastrous management” of the opening of School No. 20 on the Coast. This school, which was

presented as a solution to school overcrowding in the area, has ended up being “a clear example of improvisation, disorganisation, and lack of transparency on the part of the local government and the Ministry of Education,” they maintain.

The management of the third school on the coast has sparked outrage among parents, who are also calling for the Councillor to be made accountable. has become a true nightmare for families,” so the Education Councillor must appear to provide a clear answer about the reasons that led to “this chaotic situation.” In her opinion, “the lack of planning, transparency, and accountability cannot go unpunished.” Leticia Pertegal, spokesperson for Cambiemos, said that Pina’s attitude was “completely unacceptable” because instead of assuming responsibility, he simply passed on information from the regional government without offering solutions or addressing the demands of parents. “Educational management cannot continue to be treated with indifference,” she added.
