Police arrest two men in failed Torrevieja kidnapping
The Civil Guard has arrested two men, aged 34 and 36, accused of kidnapping and extortion in Torrevieja. The detainees were placed at the disposal
of the Court of Instruction No. 1 of Torrevieja, which ordered the imprisonment of both detainees without bail. The attempt was made over a failed drug transfer, where
the victim had to get rid of two bags of drugs in France. The Civil Guard received a phone call reporting a possible kidnapping in progress. The caller, the victim’s sibling, who was following the kidnappers, who were traveling in a car towards Guardamar del Segura. Several units were mobilised at that time and members of the main post of the Guardia Civil in Guardamar del Segura intercepted the suspected vehicle in La Mata. Inside the car, the officers found two men in the front, both with previous convictions for crimes against persons, property and public health. The victim was in the back of the vehicle and told officers he was being held against his will and claimed that his mobile phone had been taken. This was recovered from the glove compartment of the car. The alleged kidnappers were arrested on the spot for false imprisonment and extortion, and the vehicle involved along with the victim’s mobile phone were
seized as evidence. Motive The Civil Guard, which has only just reported the incident, two weeks after the event occurred, explained that during the victim’s statement at the Civil Guard headquarters in Guardamar del Segura, it was revealed that the motive for the kidnapping and the death threats was a filed drug transfer. The alleged kidnappers accused the victim of having lost two bags of drugs in France and demanded 15,000 euros and a midrange vehicle belonging to
the victim as compensation for their loss. While the arrests were made by the Main Police Station in Guardamar del Segura with the support of the Main Police Station in Torrevieja and the Local Police of Guardamar del Segura, the investigations were carried out by the Territorial Team of the Judicial Police of Guardamar del Segura.
