Traffic plans for new port area presented the mayor of torrevieja presented the new traffic study for the port area this week. Accompanied by deputy mayor and councillor for Commerce and hospitality rosario martínez and the councillor for traffic, Federico Alarcón, the mayor presented the study which looked at traffic volume and flow for the soon to be remodelled port area of the town. the study, which cost €16,093 to
complete, provides key information for the planning of access roads to the port. the suggested new traffic flow, also part of the study, has been designed both from the point of view of private vehicles that would access the leisure facilities, market and fairground, as well as the operation of public transport, as well as the traffic needs of the commercial port facilities such as the fish market, marina Salinas sports port and real Club náutico.
the mayor, eduardo dolón, explained that the study proposes that traffic enters the port of torrevieja via two entry lanes and an exit lane on the paseo Vistalegre. the section of road would be increased, so the current median would have to be refurbished. Likewise, at the intersection of Calle San policarpo with ramón Gallud, the study proposes the creation of a roundabout to improve traffic circulation. in addition, a large
roundabout (of 32 metres in diameter) is planned, right at the current confluence of Calle maría parodi with Avenida de la Libertad. this will be the main traffic entry roundabout to the port through the new road that will be built and that will allow traffic in and out of the port. by making these changes, Avenida de la Libertad would be pedestrianised in its entirety. the study also proposes
