Tapping New Water Sources

CCWhaslaunchedanimportantinitiativeto supplementreservoirsuppliesbyaccessing groundwatersources.Theprojectrevisitsa strategythatwasfirstutilizedinthe50'sandlast utilizedinthe80'sand90'swhengroundwater wellsalongtheNuecesRiverhelpedboostthe City’swatersupply Thewellswouldsupplement theflowoftheNuecesRiverandimprovethe amountofwateravailabletotheO.N.Stevens WaterTreatmentPlantthroughtheNuecesRiver PumpingStation.

Afterinvestigatingtheviabilityofnineexisting wells,CCWhasmovedintotheconstructionof newwells CCWcrewsidentified,cleared,and preparedsevennewwellsites.WellNo.1is currentlybeingconstructedonCityowned propertyoutsideofCalallen Thefirstwellis estimatedtobecompleteatadepthof800feet, withtestpumpingtobeginmid-March

CCWcrewswillberesponsiblefortheinstallation ofwaterdischargelines,aswellasassistingCityof CorpusChristiGasDepartmentcrewswithlaying newgaslinestooperatenaturalgasgenerators
