Dialing up Excellence: UBO Celebrated During Customer Service Week
October 6-10 marks Customer Service Appreciation Week, and Mayor Guajardo took the opportunity to recognize the dedicated team at the Utility Billing Office (UBO) for their commitment to serving our community. With 45 employees working tirelessly behind the scenes, this CCW division ensures that our utility operations run smoothly throughout Corpus Christi.
UBO handles approximately 14,000 customer service calls each month while generating around 108,000 bills monthly. This tremendous workload requires patience, professionalism, and a dedication to helping customers navigate their utility needs. Whether residents are calling with billing questions, setting up a new service, or seeking assistance with their accounts, UBO is there to provide that support
We extend our gratitude to every member of UBO for their hard work and commitment to customer service excellence. Thank you for representing the City of Corpus Christi and Corpus Christi Water with such professionalism and care for our customers!

I feel honored to work with the UBO team everyday. When there is a challenge – we put our heads together and consider the best solution. In a very complex and fast-paced environment, the UBO team remains focused on the most important thing – taking care of our customers.
- Reba George, Assistant Director of Support Services

Ergonomics and Preventing Strains
Ergonomics is the science of fitting the job to the worker. Whether you’re working at a desk, driving, or handling tools and equipment, practicing good ergonomics reduces the risk of strains, sprains, and long-term injuries.
Ergonomic Safety Tips:
Workstation Setup: Keep your monitor at eye level, sit with your feet flat on the floor, and maintain neutral wrist positions when typing.

Lifting Safely: Bend at the knees, not the waist, and keep loads close to your body. Ask for help with heavy or awkward items.
Take Breaks and Stretch: Short breaks to stand, walk, and stretch can reduce fatigue and muscle tension.
Use Proper Tools: Choose tools that reduce strain on your hands and wrists. Avoid awkward postures whenever possible.
Listen to Your Body: If you feel discomfort, don’t ignore it.
By paying attention to ergonomics, we can all work smarter, safer, and healthier.
