Joe R. Mitchell Jr. PGA Head Golf Professional

School’s back and with it we get ready to anticipate ... Hard to believe that one full month has passed since I became the Head Golf Professional for this great club and amazing Membership. For many of us, school is officially back in session! Our OP36 and golf clinics are also back! Our model for this fall is all about learning, having fun and building relationships! Come out to the Club and get involved in what’s going on. It’s the perfect way to meet new people or to strengthen those friendships we already have. The classes have all had good participation and everyone seems eager to get back out to improve their games. The Men’s and Junior Club Championships are being held this weekend.

par fore the course Anticipation! This is an exciting time of the year in sports. Here at the Club we get to crown Men’s and Junior club champions for 2026! On the PGA Tour their FedEx Cup playoffs begin.NFL and NCAA football teams are preparing for the start to their seasons. Us as fans, are excited to root on our favorite teams. This time of year, “hope springs eternal!” Something inside us seems to look forward to this time of year. Maybe it’s the kiddos going back to school and we get back into a nice daily routine. Maybe we’re just really excited to have weekend get togethers with family and friends to root on our favorite football teams! Some of us are excited for the holidays. (That could make us panic as well). I think all these things are ignited by one very strong word! That word is “anticipation.” Now how does that relate to golf you ask? That’s a very

good question. I think we all have a competitive nature about us. We always want to look forward to something that could happen. In golf we practice and play with the anticipation of getting better every time we come out. This can definitely happen with hard work. We have to make time to work on our games and develop routines we can stick to. We all know life comes at us quickly. As someone who is turning 50 this year and watching one of my kids go back off to college and the other graduating high school, I find myself anticipating what life is going to look like over the next 20 or 30 years. We all have those thoughts of the future. Try to live more in the “now” and enjoy every moment we can. Get out to the Club, have fun with your families and friends. Our team is always available to help you with your games! Come see us!
