COAST-TO-COAST TRAIL & DIEFENBAKER DISC GOLF

The City of Delta is seeking community feedback on the design and operation of the Coast-to-Coast Trail and the pilot disc golf course at Diefenbaker Park. The Coast-to-Coast Trail is a proposed mixed-use greenway that builds on existing trails and pathways to connect Fred Gingell Park to Centennial Beach. The Trail route passes through Diefenbaker Park, which is the location of a recently added 12-hole pilot disc golf course. Since both projects are located within the same park, the City is seeking feedback on them through a single engagement process, providing an opportunity for those interested in either the Trail or the disc golf course to share input on both projects. Feedback on both projects will be collected through to March 2, 2026.

WHAT’S THE PLAN

The Coast-to-Coast Trail will connect Fred Gingell Park to Centennial Beach using existing pathways, sidewalks, and park trails, with targeted upgrades and the addition of fitness nodes along the route. No new separated multi-use pathways will be built as part of this project.

Designed as a fitness trail, the pathway will support walking, cycling, and outdoor fitness while highlighting the City’s parks, green spaces, and waterfront. Four fitness nodes are planned along the route to provide opportunities for active breaks and informal exercise.

The disc golf course at Diefenbaker Park has operated as a pilot course since spring 2025. The intent is for the course to be established as a permanent feature at Diefenbaker Park.

FITNESS NODES ALONG THE ROUTE

Four fitness nodes are proposed along the Coast-to-Coast Trail to provide opportunities for outdoorfitness and active breaks. Each node is envisioned to reflect its surrounding park or pathway and offers a different type of fitness experience. Specifications on the equipment and the design layout will be confirmed as the project progresses.

As part of this work, the City is also seeking feedback on the 12-hole pilot disc golf course at Diefenbaker Park, introduced to replace the former course at Winskill Park. The course was developed with input from disc golf user groups and a professional course designer, with the goal of balancing disc golf with other park uses.

The City has continued to work with the disc golfers and the community to understand what is working well and where improvements can be made. Feedback received to date has informed ongoing adjustments and improvements to the course. The purpose of this engagement is to identify any outstanding concerns or opportunities from the community that can be addressed before the project becomes a permanent feature. Input will be used to identify if outstanding improvements may be needed to support shared use of the park.

We want to hear your thoughts on both the Coast-to-Coast Trail and the pilot disc golf course. Your input will help refine the final design and operation of both projects.
