ALL STAR NEWS

SEPTEMBER 2025

Exciting Season ahead

Dear Players, Families, and Supporters,

As we embark on a new season, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve had together and to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and dedication. As a volunteer-led club, every effort and contribution from our community is invaluable.  Last season was filled with challenges and triumphs, and it was passion, and commitment that made it all possible. Each one of you has contributed to our success, and I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together.

As we look forward to the upcoming season, I am filled with excitement, let us embrace this season with enthusiasm, determination, and a spirit of unity. Success is not just about winning; it is about the journey, the friendships we build, and the joy of playing the game we love. Thank you for being a part of the WDFC family. Let’s make this season our best one yet! Warm regards,

New Welfare and Safeguarding Officer

We are pleased to announce that Chloe French (below) is our new Welfare and Safeguarding Officer. Many of you may already know Chloe from her previous role as a coach in the Junior team.

She is replacing Fred Whiston, who has looked after the players at WDFC for many years.

Under Fred’s guidance he has ensured that the club has had excellent safeguarding methods and policies in place and we are grateful for his contributions in helping the club provide sporting opportunities for those with additional needs that have joined the WDFC family. We wish Fred all the best for the future and thank him for all he has done for the club.

To enable WDFC to grow and provide great experiences for our community, we are always looking for volunteers to support the club with a range of activities, from coaching and coaching assistance to administration tasks such as helping with fixtures, communication, fundraising, and sharing information with your local schools and colleges. If you are interested or know anyone who may be, please let us know by reaching out to your head coach, sending a message in your team WhatsApp group, or sending an email to: secretary@wdfc.org

WORCESTER CITY WOMEN’S FOOTBALL CLUB

Exciting news we are now officially a Worcester City Women’s Football Club Sister Club, this will present great opportunities for the club with joint projects like family days, girls only sessions, women’s kick & connect sessions, mascots and much more.

DELAYED START

Unfortunately, due to refurbishment of the Uni pitches, training for our Junior teams will not resume until Sunday 12th October (Adult teams return date TBC) On a positive note, the new surface will be fantastic! Don’t forget footwear restrictions. (see below) This type of boot will also be required for the tournaments.

Fundraising, Competitions & Donations

We are pleased to announce that Ceiron (U16 Rockets Strikers) and his family have entered a competition with Octopus Energy and have won football strips for a junior team. They have kindly donated them to WDFC to use within the junior teams. A big thank you to Ceiron and his family.

Could we also say a big thank you to Sue Jones, who donated £100 towards coaches’ qualifications (Tom Fleming’s mum, adults). This is a great help in supporting the training of new coaches to support the junior and adult teams.

Another big thank you to the team at The Bluebell in Malvern and their customers for raising £1500 during their weekly Wednesday night quizzes.

Congratulations to Mollie Salter from Powerchairs, who came second in a competition with Howden and won £250.00 for the club in March of this year.

We also raised £539.19 during our Spond fundraising campaign. Thank you to everyone who entered. Keep an eye out for more Spond fundraising campaigns, such as Spot the Ball.

And finally, we would like to say a massive thank you to Droitwich Soccer Aid, who donated £500.00 to WDFC. Our juniors were given the opportunity to be mascots for the event, took part in a small football session, and were able to watch the game, cheering on our very own Gaz Williams. We look forward to working with Simon and the Droitwich Soccer Aid team in the future.
