Back in July, the Texas Hill Country faced one of the most tragic events a community could go through thanks to an unprecedented rain event. Lives were lost, homes were ripped from their foundations, and the innocence of youth was unfairly taken away. We all learned during those early morning hours and throughout the following days that water and Mother Nature are not only unpredictable forces, but powerful ones that can be stopped by nothing.
We also learned about another powerful force during and in the aftermath of that awful Independence Day morning: the courageous spirit and resolve of folks from our area and abroad. The true nature of people always seems to shine through during adversity. That couldn’t have been any more evident here as friends, neighbors and strangers all came together to offer whatever assistance they could. Be it money, donating items of need, or simply volunteering their time, our Hill Country neighbors were there without prompt.
In the storm’s wake, “Hill Country Strong” became the rallying cry in our area and I think the man synonymous with being a good neighbor, Fred Rogers, really captured that sentiment when he said, “Real strength has to do with helping others.”
Sometimes the worst brings out the best. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. That’s what this area and these communities are built on — neighbors uniting around neighbors to lend a hand in times of need. And the true beauty of the Texas Hill Country isn’t the rolling hills and sweeping views. Its absolute beauty is in the strength of those that call it home.

HOMETOWN: I was born Bandera, Texas and lived there until I was about 7 years old. After that, we moved to Boerne and I’ve been here ever since.
FAMILY MEMBERS: Mother - Amy, and Father - Ray. I have four brothers and two sisters, and I’m the youngest of the bunch! Montanna lives in Austin, Chelsea lives in Houston, Kolt lives in Idaho, David and Thomas live in Louisiana, Tyler currently lives in San Antonio but is active military so he is always moving around! (David, Tyler and Kolt have all taken their time in the service.)
TELL US ABOUT THE OTHER POSITIONS YOU HAVE HELD AT CORDILLERA RANCH AND HOW THEY PREPARED YOU FOR YOUR NEW ROLE.
I started working at The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch in 2022 as a receptionist at the front desk. I loved the role, but I found myself wanting something more active and a better way to connect with our members. That led me to serving, which in turn introduced me to the world of events — and I instantly fell in love with it. I’ve always had a creative mindset. In high school, I took floral design and art classes, which really helped develop my eye for detail and design. I enjoy coming up with events and décor ideas, and seeing them come to life. There’s nothing more rewarding than watching others enjoy and appreciate all the hard work that goes into creating a memorable experience.
During one of our themed events that I helped plan and decorate, a member came up to me at the end of the night, genuinely touched, and said it was one of the most fun and memorable evenings they’d had at the Club. Moments like that remind me why I love what I do — seeing members connect, smile, and enjoy something I helped bring to life is incredibly fulfilling. It’s not just about the event itself but about creating lasting impressions and a sense of community for the members we serve.
I once heard the saying, “It’s not work if you enjoy where you are,” and I couldn’t agree more. Cordillera Ranch is so much more than just a workplace — the staff and members are incredibly friendly and supportive, and I truly admire each and every one of them. What I love most about my job is the freedom to fully tap into my creativity. Being able to bring ideas to life and create experiences that others enjoy is what makes my role so rewarding.
I love being out in nature — whether it’s going for a walk to enjoy the breeze, sitting outside to craft, or simply spending quality time with my family.
I’d want to have a multi-tool — something compact but useful for building, fixing, or protecting; and a journal and pen — to keep track of time and document the experience!
Give my mother back everything that she has given to me; provide unconditional health and wealth to my family; and a Dobermann puppy.
IS YOUR HERO, AND WHY?
This may sound cliché, but definitely my mother. She has always been my number one supporter — whether I’m feeling down or life throws challenges my way, she’s always there to lift me up and remind me of how strong and talented I am. I truly value the life lessons she’s taught me and the example she sets through her strength, kindness and unwavering support. Her guidance has shaped so much of who I am today.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MEAL, AND WHY?
My all-time favorite meal has to be my grandmother’s rice and gravy, served with a side of Louisiana-style potato salad and corn. It’s the ultimate comfort food and brings back so many warm memories from my childhood. Every bite reminds me of home, family and the love that went into every meal she made.
ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT YOURSELF THAT WOULD SURPRISE OTHERS?
One thing people are often surprised to learn about me is that I love to sing! I’ve even had people encourage me to try out for The Voice, but I’m a little too stage-shy to take that leap — at least for now! Singing is something I truly enjoy, even if it’s just for fun or behind the scenes.

For Jason and Heidi, life together has been exactly what Jason promised when he proposed: an adventure.
Jason and Heidi both grew up in Michigan and even attended the same college without ever meeting — until Heidi’s brother introduced them at the Bay County Gun Club. “My brother told me about this guy he thought was perfect for me,” recalled Heidi. “He was a regular member there, shooting on Sundays with his dad.”
Their first meeting led to another date and then another. By January, they were engaged, and by November, they were married. “We were married a year later,” said Heidi, warmly. “He said our lives will be an adventure together, and that it has been.”
Jason’s career path has been as dynamic as the couple’s personal adventures. From dreams of becoming a Secret Service agent, to an internship in law enforcement, to an esteemed career in the firearms and ammunition industry.
To begin, Jason attended the University of Oxford for his postgraduate studies, explaining, “I actually chose Oxford because there are no tests in class; you have to debate the professor on the subjects. I would much rather debate someone than take a standardized test. Of note, I also won the debate at Oxford, where they give the class a subject and you debate the class and then the professor. The subject (many years ago) was on immigration.”
After college, Jason forged ahead on his dream to become a Secret Service agent. “I even interned at Saginaw, MI U.S. Secret Service Field Office but quickly learned that the job was more about examining counterfeit money than protecting the president. That’s when I realized my path was meant to be somewhere else,” he shared.
So, Jason steadily worked his way from sales rep to Chairman and CEO of The Kinetic Group — the largest ammunition manufacturer in the world, owning CCI, Federal, Fiocchi, Hevi Shot, Remington and Speer. “That’s the American dream,” said Jason. “We live it every day. Coming from rural Michigan to where we are today is pretty amazing.”
employees have, like a 401k, not a taxpayer funded pension, term limits so it isn’t a career, no lobbying allowed when you leave office, etc. All of these things just make people get into politics for the right reasons. Far too often, in my opinion, politicians are just in it for themselves and forget who/how they got there.”
For Heidi, before becoming a stay-at-home mom, she had an exciting career in ophthalmology — a chapter of her life which was anything but ordinary. She once worked as a contract assistant to an ophthalmologist at the Springfield Federal Medical Center, a prison that also served as a medical facility for inmates. During her time there, Heidi walked the same halls with some notorious figures, including mobster John Gotti and Woody Harrelson’s father.
Life here has been about sharing the values he grew up with — hard work, self-reliance and service. He imagines entering politics one day, ideally in a role that’s about true public service rather than personal gain. “I think political jobs should be unpaid. It should be about serving the public, not yourself,” he said. “I feel politicians should have the same set of rules that private sector
“It was quite the experience,” she admitted. “I worked alongside the ophthalmologist during surgeries, including cataract surgery and even a cornea transplant, right there in the prison.”
Over the years, work and wanderlust have taken the Vanderbrinks from Michigan to Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Minnesota and finally Texas. “We knew as we were aging, we wanted to live where it was warm,” said Heidi, with a laugh. “Jason’s an avid hunter, and living in Texas is a great opportunity for that. Plus, the politics here are more aligned with our values.” Jason quipped, “and taxes.”
Hunting happens to be a shared passion, something Jason introduced to Heidi early on in their relationship. The family particularly loves adventuring in Africa, a place the Vanderbrinks have visited 15 times so far.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity,” shared Heidi, “We’ve harvested game that’s gone directly to feed entire villages — meat they wouldn’t otherwise have.”
Jason elaborated, “We really feel it is important to explain to the greater public about the benefits hunting does for local communities around the globe. While hunting can get a bad reputation, it is generally through misinformation or lack of education on the subject. When we go to Africa or Mongolia, or other rural areas in the world, our money for the fees goes to the local communities, the local rancher, the landowner. The community uses the money to help the communities out, whether it be water projects so the community has fresh water, building new schools, providing text books for the children, or

funding various projects that are needed. When you harvest the animal, there isn’t anything more rewarding in the world than to see the local communities coming out to the harvest site and taking back all of the meat to their families. Many times, this is the only time the locals get protein to eat. If the population would better understand that the animals are not wasted and the local communities depend on hunting to get the meat, they would better understand why hunting is necessary and why local communities depend on it for economic reasons and health.”
The trips also include delivering school supplies, soccer balls and other items to local children. “It’s neat to integrate into their day, see what the kids are doing, and experience the culture. The first time we went there, they were kicking around a water bottle for a soccer ball. They were able to use the soccer ball we brought in a local soccer tournament. It’s been good for Grace to see the gratitude in those communities,” added Heidi. Their daughter, Grace, now 13 and an eighth grader at Voss Middle School, shares their love of travel as well as hunting, which she learned on hunting trips when the family lived in Minnesota. She’s also active in volleyball, soccer, golf and her church youth group. Plus, she loves family pizza nights, custard from Andy’s Frozen Custard, excursions out to the family’s ranch in Utopia, and her new puppy named Snickers. “Grace is a little spicy sometimes, but she’s very loving and always sees the best in people. It has been our greatest joy seeing Grace grow into such a fun, loving, caring, young lady. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for her. She has been our greatest blessing,” confided Heidi.
The Vanderbrink’s second home, a ranch in Utopia, is also home to exotics (not pets) like sable and kudu, and serves as a place where family, friends, law enforcement and first responders can enjoy hunting and spending time in nature.
As for life in Cordillera Ranch, they regularly make use of the Clubhouse dining venues, golf course and gun club, but it’s the privacy and community spirit they value most. “It’s close to Boerne but out in the country, and you’re not on top of every-
one,” explained Jason. “People are really friendly — no one has anything to prove.” Heidi agreed, “It’s nice to have privacy on our 25 acres, but also have neighbors who are genuinely kind and welcoming.”
One of Heidi’s newest interests is beekeeping on their property. “I’m hoping to get another hive next year,” she said. “I’ve planted flowers for pollinators, and I can’t wait to have our own honey.” Together, the couple shares a great appreciation for music — country and classic rock are favorites — and they are happy to travel to seek out bands that top the list. “We love the Eagles, and our last concert was George Strait,” said Heidi. And then there’s their love for cars, from Jason’s 1961 Corvette to Heidi’s 2024 model they take on road trips. When asked what their dream cars are, Jason declared his was a red Ferrari while Heidi confided she wanted a Rolls-Royce.
Even after nearly 25 years together, the couple is still adding to their list of adventures — next up is a trip to Italy in October, starting in Rome and ending in Milan. Harkening back to when they fell in love, Jason remembered like it was yesterday, “I knew she was the one because she was adventurous. She didn’t mind going hunting or trying things most women might not.”
While their travels take them across the globe, the Vanderbrinks are just as content unwinding close to home. Cordillera’s private park on the Guadalupe River is one of their favorite neighborhood perks. “You can fish, float, kayak, even camp down there. It’s only two miles from our house, but it feels like you’re miles away from everything,” Heidi said. They love showing and sharing the many amenities that Cordillera Ranch has to offer with family and friends, and simply enjoying the slower pace that drew them to the Hill Country in the first place.
Texas living did come with some surprises, however. “The heat was an adjustment. That first year we had 45 days of 100 degrees or more,” said Jason. Heidi laughed, adding, “And the bugs — scorpions and centipedes — were new for us!” Still, after three years, the Vanderbrinks say they have fully settled in and can’t imagine living anywhere else.

If you’ve ever considered visiting Scotland for golf — you should do it. In July, I hosted seven Cordillera Ranch members on a Scotland adventure where we played 12 rounds of golf in 10 days. A huge thank you to Aldon Williams, Scott Weisberg, John Long, Will Hill, Pat Gonzalez, Brad Morris and Mark Greco for joining me on this trip. On top of that, another big thank you to Carl Johnson, Rob Banta, Robbie Baxter and Laura Baxter from Adventures in Golf (AIG).
I chose to book this trip through AIG based on feedback I’ve received from people who have used them and, on top of that, they have access to guaranteed tee times at the Old Course and part of their team (Robbie and Laura) live in St. Andrews. The planning for this trip started about two years in advance and AIG helped walk me through every step of the way. I submitted a handful of courses that were "must plays," they added a few, and built an incredible experience where everything was organized perfectly. See below for the golf itinerary:
Day 1 – Dumbarnie Links
Day 2 – Kingsbarns Golf Links
Day 3 – Dukes Course & New Course
Day 4 – Old Course
Day 5 – Carnoustie Golf Links
Day 6 – Royal Dornoch Golf Club
Day 7 – Cabot Highlands (Castle Stuart) & Cruden Bay
Day 8 – Royal Aberdeen Golf Club
Day 9 – North Berwick Golf Club
Day 10 – Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers (aka Muirfield)
Most of us decided to take the Cordillera Ranch shuttle to fly out of Austin through Heathrow and then into Edinburgh — Brad wanted to be a lone ranger and flew out of San Antonio. He regretted that decision on the way there and on the way home as he faced some delays going through Atlanta. However, we had eight guys, eight sets of clubs and everyone’s luggage show up in Edinburgh. We all thought Greco might blow a gasket in the airport but thankfully we were able to avoid an international incident.
Pro Tip: Don’t play golf on your arrival day. You’ve basically been traveling for a whole day — you need a shower, a couple of cocktails, dinner and a comfy bed. We stayed in the No. 1 Apartments, which are located about a 15-minute walk from the Old Course. When we arrived, Robbie and Laura met us to make sure we were able to get into the rooms and show us around
town a bit. Inside our rooms, we were pleasantly surprised by some thoughtful gifts curated by AIG. Robbie took us to a local bar and then we ventured over to Tailend, which is a favorite among the locals for fish and chips.
The next day, our golf marathon began and we quickly found out how much golf is too much golf. Dumbarnie and Kingsbarns are newer facilities in the greater St. Andrews area and both are awesome links designs. The Dukes is more of a parkland-style course and reminded me a lot of #8 at Pinehurst. The nice thing about the Dukes is you get to ride in carts so it’s great for a morning round on a 36hole day. The New Course, Old Course and Carnoustie are all well-known great tests of links golf. When I called my wife after playing the Old Course, I was literal-
ly in tears describing the experience. I’m also the kid that grew up on the putting green trying to drain the 10-footer to win the British Open on the Old Course at St. Andrews. It really is a spiritual experience walking down those fairways. Carnoustie, or Carnasty as it was called after the 1999 British Open, was in incredible shape and provided a tough test of golf. While in the St. Andrews area, we ate at Tailend (local favorite for fish and chips), Rusacks (surprisingly good steak), and Seafood Ristorante (absolutely incredible).
After our round at Carnoustie, we ventured up to Royal Dornoch, which is in the Highlands region of Scotland. We stayed at the Royal Golf Hotel, which is a flop shot away from the clubhouse at Royal Dornoch. This was easily my favorite golf course and a few of the guys on the trip would agree. Stunning views, incredible shot value, and it felt like a home club instead of a golf factory. Tom Watson eloquently described it as “the most fun I’ve ever had on a golf course” and he described the 2nd hole as the “hardest shot in golf.” John Long got to experience why — after driving the green on #1 and making a simple birdie, he missed his tee shot on the short par-3 right and then played ping pong before making a 6-footer for double. Don’t worry, John holed a wedge a few holes later for eagle to make up for it. Personally, I thought Castle Stuart had the best views of any-
where we played — you got a nice mix of the seaside with some inland holes where it all meshed together very nicely. That afternoon, we got to spend a little time on the shuttle over to Aberdeen where we played Cruden Bay. We were a little tired as this was our 9th round in seven days but we all enjoyed the quirkiness of Cruden Bay. If some of those holes were built today, everyone would hate them but we all loved it — very unique and fun — a must play if in the area. While in Aberdeen, we stayed at the Marcliffe Hotel, which is a Scottish 5-star hotel with a very nice whiskey collection. If you’d like to know more about the Marcliffe, just ask Weisberg — he covered every square inch of that property. We ate dinner at the Silver Darling, which I would highly recommend if you are in the area — phenomenal seafood. Our final round in this area was played at Royal Aberdeen, which supposedly has the best front nine in all of Scotland. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see much of it as there was only about 150 yards of visibility — this is one we all wanted to play again so we could actually experience it.
The next day, we ventured south to Gullane where we finished out the trip at the Marine North Berwick Hotel. The hotel is situated next to the 16th and 17th fairways of the historic North Berwick Golf Club, which was formed in 1832. North Berwick is a really cool layout with a rock wall that runs through the property and you play over it a few times. In addition, it’s the home of the original Redan and Biarritz template holes — often replicated throughout the world. For our final round of golf, we had the amazing opportunity to experience the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, also known as Muirfield. This is like the Augusta National
of Scotland and possibly the best golf experience I’ve ever had. A coat and tie are required to go in the clubhouse and the golf course was challenging but fun. It was the perfect way to finish off our incredible trip.
I was going to omit this last part, but I really don’t want to hear about it from Doc, so here it is … every time we do one of these trips, I organize a cumulative game for the group. The champion golfer of the trip was Aldon Williams — he finished 23 shots better than the next guy over the 12 rounds, cashed every single day, and brought half of his pain management office with him to ensure the rest of us could survive the trip. Congrats and thank you, Doc!

When you run into someone that you haven’t seen for years, one of the common phrases we use is, “It’s a small world.” It’s amazing how many times this happens in the golf world. When I was in Scotland for two weeks with some of our Cordillera Ranch members, we ran into two other Cordillera Ranch members that were on totally separate trips. Halfway across the world, in the golf shop at Dumbarnie, we ran into Tom Boehme. On top of that, we ran into Curt Lundberg at a restaurant in St. Andrews — you just can’t make this stuff up.
Well, this is another one of those stories and it all started with Chris Patrizi.
James Sayers was stationed in Doha, Qatar working in the oil and gas business where he met first met Chris Patrizi. Their daughters played high school volleyball at an international school there. Fast forward a few years and the Sayers moved to Cordillera Ranch while the Patrizis moved back to Houston. Michael Loup had known the Patrizis since their daughters were in childhood dance class together, and when Michael and Chaille started dating in 2015, Chaille was introduced into the mix. After getting married in 2017 and selling their ranch outside of Kerrville, Michael and Chaille bought a lot in The Springs in 2020 and joined the Club. Michael had Chris out to play golf and they ran into the Sayers … you can see where this is going now. Later on, James invited Michael out to play golf so he could meet some new
people on the Ranch — we are close to explaining how they ended up in Ireland for Maria’s birthday.
Michael and Chaille are also members of a club in Waterville, Ireland called Hogs Head — we’ve got another connection coming. Chaille reconnected with Sara Bettencourt, a school friend from Kinkaid in Houston, after discovering on Facebook that Sara and her husband, Mark, were at Hogs Head and found out that they are also members (or Hogs as they call it). Upon further communication, Sara asked about Chaille’s interest in Cordillera Ranch and they found that they would eventually be neighbors as the Bettencourts plan to retire out here. Now onto the story about Ireland …
James and Maria visited Hogs Head with the Loups and a few other couples from Cordillera Ranch a few years ago. They loved it so much that Maria wanted
to return this year to celebrate her 60th birthday. Michael barely needs an excuse to visit Ireland, and knowing the Bettencourts didn’t know many people out here yet, invited them to join the group — he extended the same welcoming spirit the Sayers had shown him. To round out the group, Gina and Dan Genovese and Kam and Jeff Gossett joined the trip as well. We say it all the time, but it truly is amazing how open and inviting the community is at Cordillera Ranch — throw some old connections in there, and a little golf, and you’ve got something really special.
Now it’s time to dive into their awesome trip celebrating Maria Sayer’s birthday. Everyone flew into Shannon, which is a short drive from Waterville where they got their first round in. That evening, they dinned at McCarthy’s Bar and enjoyed some live Irish music along with the first of many times they sang Maria happy birthday. The group played the next couple rounds at Hogs Head and then moved over to Adare Manor — the 2027 Ryder Cup host site.
While at dinner that first night at Adare Manor, they ran into Steph Curry (yes, that Steph Curry) who was celebrating his dad’s birthday with his brother. Maria didn’t recognize Steph and asked him to take a picture of their group — Steph decided to take a selfie first and then kindly took their picture in front of the manor. They skipped golf the next day to explore the town of Adare and enjoyed High Tea at the manor. The group played one more round at Adare where Maria had a young lady caddie who is a +5-index chasing professional golfer. She guided Maria around to a beautiful 78 in the rain. The Bettencourts had to get back to Texas so they departed that morning while the others ventured over to Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg where they played their final round of golf before departing back to Texas.
From Qatar to Houston to Ireland and back to Boerne — all roads lead to friendships at Cordillera Ranch.

Cordillera Ranch claimed victory at the renowned St George’s Cup, one of the UK’s premier international invitational club tournaments. Held at the historic St George’s Hill Golf Club in Surrey, England — a course designed in 1912 by legendary architect Harry Colt — the event draws elite clubs from across the globe.
Each year, only 24 teams are invited to compete, with past participants including Pine Valley Golf Club (ranked #1 in the U.S.) and Royal Melbourne (ranked #1 in Australia). This year’s field featured top-tier clubs from countries such as Japan (Tokyo GC), Australia (Kingston Heath GC), Switzerland, Spain, the UK and the U.S.
Team Cordillera, a fixture in the tournament since its inception, has built a reputation for both competitive excellence and unmatched camaraderie. Affectionately known as the “Tequila Boys,” they’re famous for sharing tequila with their opponents, and showcasing their signature Texas hospitality throughout the event.
The 2025 team featured Richard Martin (team captain), Trey Hallmark, Terrence Miskell and Andrew Tosdevin. On day one, Richard and Andrew posted the lowest net score of the tournament, while Trey and Terrence delivered the second-lowest gross score. The team continued their strong performance in the afternoon’s challenging greensomes format (a modified alternate shot), finishing the day with a narrow lead.
After some late-night strategizing — over tequila, of course — Cordillera came out strong on day two. Andrew and Terrence recorded the tournament’s lowest gross score, while Trey and Richard held steady to secure the win by three shots, lifting the prestigious St George’s Cup trophy.
“We are extremely proud to represent Cordillera Ranch among some of the world’s finest golf clubs,” said team captain Richard Martin. “The addition of Terrence Miskell, who recently qualified for the U.S. Senior Open, really elevated our performance. Playing regularly at Cordillera, with its challenging layout and pristine conditions, truly prepared us well for this event.”
The Team Cordillera Tequila Boys will return to defend their title on July 13–14, 2026.

It’s been a busy and exciting summer here at Cordillera Ranch — the kind of summer where the sun rises early, the workday seems to fly by, and the coffee pot never really gets a break. While our crew has been hard at work on the course, there’s been another big project taking shape behind the scenes: our newly renovated turf care facility, which we’re thrilled to announce will be complete the first week of September.
This is more than just a new building for us. It’s the next chapter in our story — nearly 10 months after the fire that forced us to adjust, adapt, and operate without the dedicated space we once had. The team is more than ready to move in — and with good reason. The renovation includes enclosing the former covered storage area, which means every single piece of equipment we own will finally be stored inside, safe from sun, rain and the occasional Texas dust storm. Inside the main equipment building, we now have a dedicated workshop for our equipment technicians, a grinding and sharpening room, and expanded parts and storage areas. The design emphasizes flow and function, making it easier to store, access, and maintain our mowers and tools. No more “mower shuffle” to get one piece out — and no more wondering where that one tool disappeared to. Technology has also found a home in our operations. You may have seen our FireFly autonomous mowers quietly going about their work on the fairways, but that’s just the start. Behind the scenes, our crew uses detailed scheduling software to track every hour and every task. Each job comes with a QR code that links to a step-by-step guide on how it should be done — a huge help
in training and ensuring consistency. Our equipment technicians use a program called “My Turf,” which allows each mower to communicate directly with a central computer. The system logs hours, schedules maintenance, and alerts technicians when service is due. It’s like a health tracker for machines — except these machines cut grass instead of calories.
Out on the course, we kept things just as productive. During the July closure, we aerified, verticut, and topdressed all zoysia surfaces. Thanks to favorable weather and a strong recovery, we’re already enjoying smoother, healthier playing conditions. We also tackled a big sand project, adding 600 tons of “Arkansas Premier White” to our bunkers. This sand compacts beautifully, plays consistently, and gives golfers a variety of shot options. In short — it’s as good for play as it is for the look of the course.
It’s been a full, challenging and rewarding season. The course has seen major improvements, the team has worked hard through the summer heat, and we’re on the verge of moving into a facility that will take our operations to the next level.
Once the renovation is complete, we’ll be inviting members for a grand opening and behind-the-scenes tour. It will be your chance to see exactly how much work — and how much pride — goes into keeping Cordillera Ranch one of the best courses in Texas. Until then, we’ll be out there mowing, raking, and making sure both the course and our soon-to-be new shop are ready for their moment in the spotlight.

In the journey of athletic development, few things are more frustrating than the plateau — that point where progress stalls, improvement slows and motivation dips. In pickleball, this phenomenon is especially common among players who have developed strong foundational skills but struggle to elevate their game to the next level. At The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch, we are committed to helping players break through these barriers with a structured, results-driven improvement system.
Plateauing often occurs when players rely solely on repetition without reflection. They continue playing socially or competing regularly but fail to integrate new strategies, refine technique, or seek meaningful feedback. This leads to ingrained habits, predictable patterns, and missed opportunities for growth.
To help players move beyond their current level, we’ve implemented a 4-pillar improvement model based on leading instructional frameworks and on-court experience with players of all levels.
Not all practice is equal. Purposeful practice focuses on specific goals with immediate feedback. For example, rather than simply “working on volleys,” a player might commit to controlling paddle angle and placement during a net drill, with measurable benchmarks.
At our Club clinics and lessons, we break down strokes, emphasize mechanics, and use ball machines and live drills to target high-impact areas like third-shot drops, dinks and resets. Intentionality transforms effort into improvement.
Seeing is believing. One of the fastest ways to accelerate improvement is to watch yourself play. Many players are surprised by what they discover — improper footwork, incomplete follow-throughs or inefficient court positioning. We use slow-motion video tools and performance breakdowns to help players understand their habits and make targeted adjustments. Regular video reviews can turn vague goals into specific corrections.
3.
Competition reveals gaps in consistency, shot selection and mental focus. But simply playing more matches isn’t enough. What matters is
how you reflect on those matches. After each competitive session, we encourage players to evaluate:
• What worked under pressure?
• Which shots broke down?
• What tactical adjustments were attempted?
This kind of post-match analysis creates a mindset of growth, not just performance.
4. Physical and Mental Conditioning
As players aim for higher levels — especially 3.5 and above — physical fitness and mental discipline become essential. Footwork, balance and stamina often separate strong recreational players from tournament-ready athletes.
Our programs at The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch integrate agility training, breathing techniques and concentration drills to develop the athletic and mental edge needed to perform consistently.
Whether you’re aiming to move from 3.0 to 3.5 or preparing for high-level competition, the key is structure, not just repetition. Our team is here to support your development with:
• Private coaching sessions
• Video review packages
• Advanced player clinics
• DUPR-monitored match play
• In-house leagues
Progress is never linear, but with a deliberate system and consistent commitment, improvement is inevitable. If you’ve been stuck at the same level for months, now is the time to rethink your approach — and unlock your next breakthrough.

Very often, I hear, “Ah, man! I forgot to start my workout on my watch!” It makes them feel like they must either start their workout over, or it “doesn’t count.” There are so many cool gadgets that help us in our fitness journey. I have a few fitness trackers and equipment to talk to you about today. What you use depends on your sports, preferences and fitness goals.
Apple Watch: This is your text and message-capable, step-tracking, exercise-tracking, all-around fitness watch. This watch is great for everyday use, plus it has robust fitness tracking. You have different choices for what workout you are tracking, and it measures your heart rate. Apple even has life-saving features, such as ECG for detecting atrial fibrillation and sleep apnea detection. One other neat feature: it detects if you have fallen. You also are directly connected to your iPhone for mapping walks or runs. Many like the wearability of it and the array of bands that are sweat-proof and comfortable.
Power Plate: Many members ask me what this piece of equipment does and how it works. The Power Plate is a medical grade piece of equipment, used by sports performance centers and in physical therapy settings. This machine activates the body’s natural reflexive response to vibration. It helps with flexibility, as the vibration allows muscles to relax to stretch further; it enables the body to have better blood flow and assists in lymphatic drainage; it enhances balance and creates more caloric burn; it increases bone density, because vibration is how the muscles “hug” the bones to strengthen them; and the vibration creates more brain stimulation as well. There are meta-analysis studies on the effects of the Power Plate. A variety of programs allows for what the client wants, such as workouts, stretching and massage to play, feel or balance better, and it’s a great warm-up or cool-down for tennis, pickleball or golf. One of our trainers would be happy to show you how this amazing machine works!
Garmin Forerunner Watch: This gadget is especially handy for runners and has a long-lasting battery life — it lasts two weeks! This fitness tracker has all that the Apple Watch has, as well as a built-in GPS to track your route, distance, pace, laps, etc. It also has a safety feature: you can send your location to an emergency contact if you are running solo.
Oura Ring: If you want a comfortable device for tracking sleep and restfulness, the Oura Ring is right for you. It also automatically tracks and detects activities even without “starting a workout.” It is neat to note that the Oura Ring provides insights into stress, resilience, illness and recovery needs. The battery lasts longer than Apple’s does.
Whoop Wearable: This is another gadget that is wearable and comfortable without being distracting. You can check your health status on the app, and this wearable is built to be worn all the time. It tracks and analyzes biometric data to see how the body responds to daily activity and offers recommendations for performance and well-being.
Foam Rollers & Release Balls: If you haven’t tried myofascial release, now is the best time and it is never too late to try! The foam roller can release tension in the muscle and fascial system. Myofascial release is proven to help the body move better if it is done correctly. There are trigger points in the body that help release key areas. The release ball is great for releasing pinpoint areas, such as the glutes, between the shoulder blades or the pectoralis (chest) muscles. I have the SPINEFITTER and the Chirp Wheels in my office for members’ use as well.
Stretch Assistance: Other equipment here at the Fitness Center includes the Precor Stretch, which allows you to rock forward and backward into stretch positions that might not be as accessible on the floor, and the TRX strap, which is a system that hangs from a higher source — one uses the handles to hang into a back and shoulder stretch or open up the chest and shoulders. The TRX can be used for an entire workout.
Our trainers at The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch are happy to design a workout that incorporates more stretching and mobility so you can continue to work out injury free!

:the sensation of flavor perceived in the mouth and throat on contact with a substance.
While the calendar may say the seasons are changing, in Texas we know it might still feel like summer for a while longer. Even so, our wine program is embracing the shift, bringing fresh selections, new producers and exciting opportunities to enjoy what’s in your glass.
For those I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting yet, my name is Holden Abdullah, and I have the privilege of helping manage the wine program here at The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch. My journey in wine has been anything but ordinary. It’s taken me from the rolling vineyards of Napa Valley to the limestone soils of the Texas Hill Country, and soon to the alpine landscapes of Austria.
My first introduction to wine came in Napa working at the legendary Chateau Montelena, an experience that shaped my understanding of what it means to make truly great world-class wine. I worked every stage of the process, walking vineyard rows in the cool morning fog, monitoring fruit through the growing season, sorting grapes during harvest, and following them through fermentation, barrel aging and bottling. One of the most impactful parts of that time was shadowing directly under Heidi and Bo Barrett. Observing their patience, precision and intuitive approach to winemaking left a lasting mark on how I see both the artistry and discipline behind every bottle. My time at Montelena taught me that exceptional wine begins long before it ever reaches a glass. It starts in the soil, the
vines and the countless small decisions made along the way.
Returning to Texas, I joined William Chris Vineyards, a winery consistently named one of the Top 100 Wineries in the World. There, I deepened my appreciation for Texas terroir, how our climate, soils and native character shape wines with their own distinct voice that was closer to home, having been born and raised in the Texas Hill Country.
Before entering the wine world, I was a proud member of the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University, serving with the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, the Ross Volunteer Company, and later leading on Corps Staff. I graduated with honors, and the discipline, leadership and attention to detail learned in those years continue to guide how I approach every part of my work here at Cordillera Ranch.
This fall, I’ll be stepping away for a short but exciting opportunity, working harvest in Austria at Mayer am Pfarrplatz, who first opened their doors in 1683, and where Beethoven wrote his Symphony No.6! The region is celebrated for its organic, sustainable and precision-driven winemaking techniques, where I’ll be fully immersed in the vineyards and cellars. I will be learning how cool-climate growing conditions influence the balance, structure
and longevity of the wines, and how generations of tradition can coexist with modern innovation. My goal is to return not only with new skills and stories, but with fresh inspiration for our program and, hopefully, a few Austrian bottles for us to share together. For those of you returning to Cordillera Ranch this fall, I will miss meeting y'all, but look forward to reconnecting when I’m back, ready to swap vineyard stories, share what I’ve learned, and pour something truly special.
Over the past year, we’ve been refining our offerings, streamlining processes, and expanding our cellar to reflect both the high standards of Cordillera Ranch members and the ever-evolving nature of the wine world. One of the highlights we’re excited to share is the arrival of Pride Mountain Vineyards to our lineup. Nestled high in the Mayacamas Mountains, straddling the Napa and Sonoma County line, Pride produces bold, elegant wines with a sense of place and undeniable character.
As part of keeping our program dynamic, a few of our long-standing mainstays will be stepping aside to make room for new vintages, varietals and producers. While it’s always hard to say goodbye to familiar favorites, we encourage you to give these new selections a chance. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised and maybe even discover your next go-to bottle. Our Bythe-Glass program has been carefully curated to showcase a broader, more worldly selection, ensuring every pour is fresh, vibrant and served at its best. This approach allows us to introduce unique and limited offerings from a variety of regions more often, keeping the list dynamic and engaging.
Beyond what’s on the menu, our retail wine program continues to grow as a valued member benefit. Whether you’re stocking your cellar, preparing for a dinner party, or simply want a favorite label at home, we can source and order
directly for you. With access to exclusive allocations and competitive pricing, our retail program offers the quality and service you expect from Cordillera Ranch, with the convenience of having it all handled for you.
Looking ahead, our event calendar is shaping up to be one of our most exciting yet. Expect seasonal wine dinners, curated tastings and visits from winemakers who will share not only their wines but also the stories, vineyards and passion behind them. These gatherings are a chance to expand your palate, meet
fellow members, and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with sharing great wine and popping a cork.
Here’s to raising a glass together this season, even if Mother Nature’s still deciding what season it actually is here in Texas.
Cheers!

There is so much more to your health and wellness than the number on the scale. Understanding your body’s composition — the breakdown of muscle, fat and water — is important to knowing the whole answer for your nutrition and fitness goals. In the Fitness Center, we have the InBody 270, which measures more than just your weight. It uses a low electrical current through the body. Muscles contain more water than fat, which is why it conducts electricity better. It also does segmental lean analysis, which helps the client (and trainer) understand where more muscle needs to be gained and where fat needs to be burned. It is a reliable instrument to gain strength, lose weight and guide a member to their goals more effectively. Contact Tamra Christiansen for a personalized InBody evaluation.

One of the greatest amenities that Cordillera Ranch has to offer are its parks and trail system that include access to the Guadalupe River and the spring fed creeks on the Ranch. The River Park at Cordillera Ranch has five campsites, each equipped with a picnic table, bar-b-q pit, fire pit and trash can. All Cordillera Ranch property owners and Club members may reserve these campsites through the Property Owners Association for no fee. If you want to take it up a notch, the Clubs’ Outfitter offers a full line of camping gear to rent and a full-service campsite setup and strike service for our Club members.
Camping with family is a great way to re-connect with each other through a shared experience. When parents go to work and kids go to school on a daily schedule, family members experience separate realities. But sharing the same tent on a family camping trip has a way of uniting and strengthening family bonds.
Contact Shane Reynolds with questions about making the most of your Cordillera Ranch camping experience.

On the morning of July 4th, heavy rains brought catastrophic flooding to Kerrville and surrounding areas of the Hill Country. The Guadalupe River swelled beyond its banks, sweeping through Camp Mystic and nearby communities, causing widespread damage and forcing families to evacuate. First Responders, volunteers and neighbors rushed into action, working tirelessly to rescue those stranded and search for missing loved ones.
In the days that followed, Cordillera Ranch joined in the relief efforts. We opened our Lodges to provide complimentary accommodations for displaced families, offered kayaks and outfitter supplies to aid volunteers searching the Guadalupe River, and assisted directly in search and rescue operations. Our team also worked to ensure First Responders had the food and beverages they needed to sustain their efforts.
Wanting to give back in a meaningful way, the Club launched the Hill Country Strong initiative, with all proceeds from a limited-edition hat benefiting Hill Country Family Services. This organization continues to be a vital resource for flood victims and those on the front lines.
Thanks to the outpouring of generosity from our members, we raised $12,354 through the sale of 361 hats — funds that will directly support local families and relief work.
The tragedy of July 4th has reminded us of the strength, resilience and compassion of our community.
For more than 40 years, Hill Country Family Services (HCFS), based in Boerne, has been a lifeline for more than 1,000 families annually across Kendall County. Through strong partnerships with city and county agencies, Boerne ISD and Comfort ISD, HCFS extends its impact even further with a range of indirect services.
When the July 4th floods struck, HCFS mobilized swiftly. While Kendall County was spared the worst compared to neighboring Kerr County, HCFS stepped in to help relocate three families affected in the Comfort area.
Then, the donations began pouring in.
“Working alongside the Comfort Area Foundation and local churches from Comfort and Center Point, we secured a large warehouse space in Comfort to manage the overflow of donated items,” said Bryce Boddie, LMSW, Executive Director of HCFS. “We’ve been distributing everything from chainsaws to Gatorade, shovels to beef jerky — whatever the recovery teams in Kerr County need.”
HCFS Board Member and Cordillera Ranch resident Ron Fielding, along with his wife Kathy, immediately stepped up to support the logistics of distribution.
“Cordillera has been an incredible partner in supporting Hill Country Family Services,” Bryce added. “The proceeds
from their Hill Country Strong hats are making a direct impact on families and individuals in Kerr and Kendall Counties affected by the floods.”
Support also extended to children returning to school in the wake of the disaster. “We provided care baskets to Hunt Elementary, Ingram Elementary, and Starkey Elementary in Kerrville,” Bryce shared. “Each basket included treats for teachers and staff, plus books to help children navigate difficult emotions. With help from Kendall Elementary School, Boerne ISD and Frost Bank, we packed and distributed 120 care baskets just before the school year began.”
Bryce, who began his journey with HCFS as a graduate student intern, now leads the organization with a deep sense of purpose. “It feels like coming home,” he said. “It’s been incredibly rewarding to work closely with local law enforcement on mental health crisis response and to help establish our Behavioral Health Coalition.” This new initiative joins HCFS’s four core pillars that guide families from crisis to stability:
• Connections – Finding the right resources
• Finances – Finding your footing
• Nutrition – Finding nourishment
• Counseling – Finding your way
There are many ways to support HCFS and the families of Kendall County. Visit the HCFS website to learn more about donating funds, goods or services — or to participate in fundraising events like the annual golf tournament.
“This is our 10th year hosting the golf tournament at Cordillera Ranch,” Bryce said. “It’s scheduled for Monday, October 6, and we’re thrilled to welcome our first responders for the Battle of the Badges trophy competition, featuring teams from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, Boerne PD, Boerne Fire, and Kendall County EMS/Bergheim Fire. We’re still looking for sponsors for these teams — anyone interested can contact me directly at bryce.boddie@hcfstx.org.”

By Jed Mazour, Boerne Bass Club
In 2018, a small group of kids, about a dozen or so, collaborated with Welton Pickering from Boerne High School about an idea to build a bass fishing team. With the help from Welton, the Digiosia family, the Kurtz family, Maryanna Pearson, the Mazour family and several more, it became a reality. Actually, it became a dream come true for many kids! The fundamentals and framework were set. The club was brought to life. Now it’s time to walk the walk.
The mission of the Boerne Bass Club is to create a sustainable bass fishing club for our area youth, keeping intact Christian-oriented ideals and guiding principles and in doing so, to develop future leaders in our community who have outstanding character, values and share a love for the outdoors.
Eight years later, that mission is alive and thriving. The Boerne Bass Club has had hundreds of kids come through this program! I want to be crystal clear about this message; this club is for everyone! You don’t have to be an athlete or a part of a special social circle to be accepted. This club belongs to every child that has a desire to be outside and explore — boys and girls, grades 6-12.
If you don’t have much experience fishing, even better! You can learn all you need from our coaches, your peers and some of our guest speakers. We create an environment that will help your children learn patience, good sportsmanship, experience public speaking, learn to socialize with new and different kids, engage in conservation and even dive into their faith!
We fish under two leagues: Faith Angler Network and Texas High School Bass Association. There are on average six tournaments a year in each league, plus the championship, and a few private tournaments. There is NO commitment. You can fish one or two, or you can compete in every one if you are able. This is at your own pace. But I will caution you! Your kids are going to love it and the desire to be a part of this group will grow
as fast as a 250 HP Mercury on a lake at 6:00am. If you know, you know.
Although our 2025/2026 lake list is not out yet, our normal competition lakes include Travis, Canyon, Buchanan, LBJ, Amistad, Coleto Creek, Conroe and more. It is preferable that you own or have access to a boat. If you don’t own a boat or have access to one, you can look into renting options. Also, we do have a group of amazing volunteer boat owners that lend time to be boat captains. This allows us to give the opportunity to those kids without access and to get them on the water fishing.
We are extremely pleased to announce that through our main sponsor, Ron Hoover RV & Marine, we now have a new team boat! This boat’s sole purpose is to provide this opportunity to kids who wouldn’t normally have it. For kids who might need or deserve a little more in life right now, we are here for you! This isn’t just any boat, this is a custom-designed 2026 Caymas CX 21 Pro made specifically for the Boerne Bass Club!! It is basically the most beautiful thing on the water.
The Boerne Bass Club is a volunteerrun organization. We are funded by our amazing and generous sponsors, like Cordillera Ranch! If you feel the calling to be a volunteer boat captain or want to donate to our cause, please reach out, we would love to meet you! We want to preserve this club as long as we are able but it is going to take help and consistency from the community.
The story of the Boerne Bass Club isn’t just about fishing. It’s about community, character and a shared love for the outdoors. It’s about kids discovering who
they are — one cast, one sunrise and one memory at a time.
Denise and I have been fortunate enough to meet every single child that has come through this program. It still amazes us to see them mature, develop their skills, and watch their personalities bloom! It’s something that touches our hearts dearly. Every time I mention this, I can see the smiling faces of so many kids over the years and remember some of the heartwarming things they have shared with us. Please, join us in our efforts to continue growing this organization for our area youth!
For more information, please contact Denise and Jed Mazour at 830.446.2122 or BoerneBass@gmail.com.
“I visited Joshua Creek for a corporate event. We hunted behind dogs the first afternoon and had a great experience. The guide was knowledgeable, knew his dogs well and was enjoyable to be around. The second day we did a driven hunt and had a great time as well. Overall, this place was beautiful, the staff were professional, and the hunts were exceptional. Lodge, food, and bar were also wonderful.”

For more than four decades, Burdick Custom Homes has been a name synonymous with excellence in San Antonio’s luxury home market. Their portfolio spans from rustic Hill Country retreats to sleek contemporary estates. Yet one thing never changes: the meticulous craftsmanship, uncompromising quality and client-first approach that define every project.
Burdick homes are tailored to harmonize with their surroundings and reflect each client’s lifestyle. The process is collaborative from start to finish, ensuring every detail, from the foundation to the smallest finish, meets the highest standards. Thoughtful integration of luxury amenities, timeless materials and innovative technology creates spaces that are as functional as they are breathtaking.
Having built over 100 houses in Cordillera Ranch, this commitment is on full display. Across a spectrum of designs, each Burdick residence blends artistry with livability, creating spaces that inspire awe while feeling effortlessly like home. The following homes showcase this philosophy. Each is unique in style, yet united by the same dedication to excellence.
A massive island with bar-height and table-height seating anchors the kitchen’s social energy, surrounded by two-toned maple and rift oak tambour cabinetry. Quartzite waterfall-edge counters and a continuous backsplash make a bold design statement, while linear hardware echoes the inlays on the custom maple hood. A Sub-Zero®/Wolf® appliance package,
complete with double ovens, is ready for any culinary ambition, and a caterer’s kitchen expands prep space with a secondary fridge, dishwasher, microwave and coffee bar. Under-cabinet and toe-kick lighting, large-format porcelain tile and a floating ceiling with Schonbek crystal pendants ensure that form and function are perfectly balanced.
Black window and door packages stand in sharp contrast to warm travertine cladding, Belgard® pavers, and NewTechWood® composite tambour siding. A glass pivot door sets a dramatic entry, framed by stylized roof overhangs and
a soffit cutout designed to funnel light into the study while accentuating the fountain. This is a front door that doesn’t just welcome. It impresses.
A Douglas fir-clad and beamed ceiling sets the tone for this restful retreat, anchored by a Cavestone fireplace with a linear gas insert that doubles as a media mount. Barn-hung alder doors, automatic shades and floor-to-ceiling windows create a space that’s as functional as it is beautiful. Wood-look porcelain tile offers rustic character with modern durability.
Clerestory windows and expansive sliding doors capture sweeping Hill Country views, while Douglas fir beams and a pitched, wood-clad ceiling bring rustic warmth overhead. Wood-tile floors extend to the flagstone pool deck, making the transition from indoor games to outdoor gatherings effortless. Every proportion, from window height to door placement, is intentional, ensuring the view is never compromised.
A spa-worthy retreat begins with the Kohler® Anthem Series smart shower, where preset temperatures and water features can be activated from a smartphone or bedside remote. A furr-down detail above the shower creates a more intimate feel that helps the space warm quickly while housing the rain shower head above. Clerestory windows bathe the room in light while preserving privacy, and a Caesarstone® porcelain accent wall frames a modern freestanding tub. Floating maple cabinetry with a waterfall-edge counter, backlit mirrors and Schonbek crystal wall sconces complete the sophisticated look. Everyday convenience becomes indulgence with an en suite laundry setup, a Wolf® towel-warming drawer, and a coffee bar just steps from the shower. All perfect for starting the morning in comfort.
Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the golf course, while layered lighting enhances the warmth of the wood floors. Instead of a ceiling fan, a statement chandelier adds elegance. A private patio offers a quiet escape, perfect for morning coffee or evening sunsets.
This workspace pairs openness with focus, thanks to top-track suspended sliding glass doors that eliminate floor tracks for an uninterrupted surface. A geometric coffered ceiling with LED accent lighting adds architectural drama, while black textured wallpaper creates depth and warmth. The room is prewired for remotecontrolled shades and offers a clear view of the glass wine cellar — a reminder of the reward awaiting after a successful workday.
Stacking, full-width sliding glass doors erase the boundary between the kitchen, dining and living spaces, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. Guests can gather at an outside bar top that connects directly to the indoor bar via a first-ofits-kind Clopay VertiStack® glass door, which slides up into the ceiling like a modern garage door. The outdoor kitchen, shaded by a sleek metal pergola, sits beside a dining area for eight and a lounge anchored by a stacked-stone TV and fireplace wall. A partially covered spa with a waterfall edge cascades into the pool, flanked by swinging lounge chairs suspended over a tanning ledge.
This terraced backyard and home layout is designed to envelop the lot, opening every room to golf course views. Mediterranean influences meet Hill Country charm, with the home’s angles and tiered layout creating a sense of openness that feels both grand and welcoming.
A barrel tile roof crowns a facade of Cavestone, stucco and Hardie® wood-look siding — all chosen for low-maintenance appeal without sacrificing charm. A walled courtyard offers privacy, while warm materials and inviting textures make the home feel like a natural extension of the surrounding landscape.

The Cordillera Ranch Property Owners Association has been busy this year with capital improvements throughout the Ranch. We are committed to investing resources to enhance and improve Cordillera Ranch for our property owners. These ongoing projects are part of our dedication to maintaining the highest standards for our community.
Upgrading our camera systems at all mail centers with the advanced Verkada cameras used at the entries was a top priority. Multiple cameras were installed at each mail center, including an upgrade of license plate recognition cameras. The Verkada system allows us to search not only by license plate, but also by the color and type of vehicle. This advanced capability significantly enhances our ability to monitor the mail centers and entries. Additionally, Verkada's features allow us to link a camera feed directly to the Sheriff’s office, providing critical support should we have an emergency onsite requiring law enforcement. As part of our comprehensive plan, we will also be adding additional cameras at the Clubs Drive circle, as this location is a high-traffic area. Overall, the Verkada system has been a substantial benefit and upgrade for the community.
With a mindset of subtle elegance, we've completed the full replacement of the landscape lighting at the Highway 46 entry. The project started with first analyzing what areas of the entry we wanted to highlight, including our majestic oak trees and the unique native landscape. We then developed a preliminary plan, including different light fixtures, transformer locations, and a selection of dichroic filters to modify the light spectrum on specific fixtures.
A key consideration throughout the project was our appreciation for the beautiful night sky we are fortunate to have in Cordillera. We collaborated closely with the vendor to ensure that the new lighting would cast as little light pollution as possible. To achieve the perfect balance of illumination and minimal disruption, we met multiple times onsite in the evening hours to assess
and modify fixture locations, filter colors, and critique the project. This meticulous attention to detail ensured that the final result was both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The vendor was also tasked with providing a complete and thorough as-built plan for the POA, which will be invaluable for any future repairs and additions to the lighting. Our dedicated POA Maintenance Team also spent many hours installing new junctions and electrical pull boxes to ensure repairs could be made quickly and efficiently.
Road repairs and upgrades began early this year and will soon be wrapping up, a project that is critical for the ongoing POA. To ensure a professional and data-driven approach, the POA hired an engineer specializing in road evaluations to provide a comprehensive report on the conditions of the roads in the Ranch. This report included useful life expectations and suggested repairs, giving us a clear roadmap for the work. The POA had all critical repairs completed and has begun the proactive process of crack sealing and seal coating roads around the Ranch. This involves two key steps to ensure our roads remain in top condition:
• Crack Sealant: This is applied to prevent water penetration into the asphalt and base layers under the asphalt. By sealing these cracks, we prevent damage from water freezing and expanding, which can cause significant deterioration.
• Seal Coat: After the crack sealant is applied, a seal coat is applied to the entire length and width of the road. This layer fills in micro-cracks forming in the asphalt and smooths over transitions where crack sealant was applied. The seal coat also helps extend the usable life of the asphalt, providing a protective layer against the elements and daily wear and tear.
After the seal coat application is complete, striping and reflective road buttons will be installed where applicable to enhance visibility and safety. The POA will continue the use of preventive crack sealant and seal coating in following years, as well as having continued evaluation performed by an engineer to ensure the highest standard of care is used for the roads.
These ongoing investments in our community are a testament to the Cordillera Ranch POA's dedication to preserving and enhancing the quality of life for all residents. We are committed to a future where Cordillera Ranch remains a beautiful and thriving place to live, and we thank our property owners for their continued support.

The first half of 2025 sure has done an about face from the prior year when it comes to sales in Cordillera Ranch, and most notably, home sales. The entire year of 2024 saw exactly 30 homes sold in Cordillera Ranch, whereas during the first six months of 2025, there have already been 29 homes close, with several more pending at the end of that June timeframe. It’s a remarkable turnaround from just 12 months ago and bodes well as we move towards the fall.
There are likely a few reasons why we’re seeing an uptick — first and foremost, Cordillera Ranch is simply a gem in the luxury home space within the Boerne and San Antonio region given our wide array of amenities. The Hill Country is spectacular, our schools are wonderful, we’re close to a major city and airport, and are within a few easy miles of a major Interstate highway. Close, yet just far enough away. So, whether buyers are new to the area or are simply looking to make a change from a current
home nearby, they are, in all likelihood, going to find their way to our front door. Couple that with declining interest rates, an increase in available home inventory, and a general overall positive feeling about the state of the market, and you’ve got many of the ingredients for an increase in activity.

At The Cibolo Center for Conservation, beauty isn’t just found in the Hill Country views we admire. It’s in the community that comes together to protect them, the land we steward, and the future we build for generations to come!
We live in a region defined by clear creeks, wide-open skies, and the irreplaceable natural heritage of the Texas Hill Country. The Cibolo works every day to safeguard this legacy through hands-on conservation, nature-based education for children and adults, and community programs that connect people to the land we all love.
But this work can’t continue without the financial support of people who care as deeply as you do. Your tax-deductible gift helps ensure that our creeks run clear, our children learn in nature’s classroom, and our Hill Country remains a place of beauty, balance, and belonging. This isn’t just conservation—it’s an investment in the heart and soul of the Texas Hill Country.
