Local TV show idea a winner BY ALEX PURCELL

Pomona residents and winners of The Block 2020, Jimmy and Tam Wilkins and their seven-year-old daughter, Frankie are hosts of a new TV show, My Dream Hideout.

FILMING for a brand new TV show has been going on in Pomona after a local video producer won an annual screen industry competition. Kin Kin’s Anita Poteri won the 2023 Sunny Coast Showdown unscripted category for the idea, My Dream Hideout. Anita, owner of production company Itchy Feet Media, said My Dream Hideout is about making dreams come true by creating custom hideouts for adults and kids. “The idea came from a meeting with Pomona residents and winners of The Block 2020, Jimmy and Tam Wilkins.” Jimmy and Tam moved to Pomona in 2021. Tam owns Pomona homewares store, Velzy Lane and Jimmy is the owner of Belarc Plumbing and Gasfitting. “We brainstormed ideas for a TV show that they could present, and after the meeting I developed the idea My Dream Hideout and wrote up a pitch and format of the show,” Anita said. Hosted by Jimmy and Tam and their seven-year-old daughter Frankie (pictured), Anita said My Dream Hideout is the show where they turn the wildest hideaway dreams into a jaw-dropping reality.

“From cozy fishing shacks to futuristic space-themed hideouts and vibrant art-inspired spaces to serene yoga domes nestled in the trees – we make any dream hideout a reality.” Starting with an empty shipping container, the hideout is built off-site in a shed in Pomona, and then delivered to the ‘hero’ to surprise them. “Our first hideout was for a hero in Noosa. “Our team worked tirelessly to make sure every detail was perfect. We had Cooran-based builder Trent Mclellan help us with the build, and Pomona’s This Bird artist Tia Carrigan painted a mural. “Making dreams a reality is hard work but it's also incredibly fun and rewarding. We loved seeing the joy on our hero's face when we revealed their custom hideout.” Filming for the show took place over three days in Pomona, Noosa and Sunshine Beach. “We filmed in Pomona, Waves of Kindness in Noosaville, Pomona recycling yard, Sunshine Beach and at the hero’s house in Noosa Heads. “Jimmy, Tam and Frankie are the brains trust of the operation. They are great characters and natural in front of the camera. Continued on page 3.
