COOPER & CO COMPASS AN UPDATE FROM MARTINCOOPER
Thoughts have been with all our Chinese colleagues who recently celebrated Lunar New Year with family and friends. It’s a special time of renewal, optimism and fresh beginnings - themes that feel very relevant for all of us right now. 2026 is the Year of the Horse - and specifically, the Year of the Fire Horse. It represents energy, boldness, momentum and breakthrough. A year of decisive action, independence and progress. It encourages passion and courage, while reminding us to look after ourselves as we move at pace. That certainly feels true for Cooper & Co. The horse has well and truly bolted into 2026, and it’s exciting to see. Yes, there have been leadership changes and shifts across parts of the business. Change naturally creates some uncertainty. But it also creates opportunity - and across the company we are seeing and planning real forward movement. Our Property Management division continues to go from strength to strength. Auction numbers are building momentum and delivering outstanding results. Vendor funding marketing is at an all time high and plans are underway for our new auction room facility in the old Jerry Clayton site in Takapuna. Individual agents, teams and some offices are achieving personal bests. It is great the see new members winning the Rising Star awards and office and individual members of our team winning the top Customer Service awards. Our Commercial team is gaining real traction in sales and leasing, securing some great commercial investment properties for sale. And our Commercial Property Management business is winning some great new business. Our Community team is representing our brand at more events than ever - visible, engaged and proud. Having been at the helm of Cooper & Co for 35 years, I’ve seen many cycles - market shifts, mini crises, economic downturns and lockdowns. Every single time, we’ve adapted, learned and emerged stronger. That’s who we are at Cooper & Co. I’m genuinely excited about what lies ahead and look forward to galloping with you into the opportunities 2026 will bring. Enjoy the Compass. Cheers, Martin
