It’s been a fast and energetic start to the year, with strong momentum building across the business. Recent site visits to Perth, Albury, and Queensland have highlighted the depth of activity underway, with each region experiencing a busy pipeline and a positive outlook. It was particularly pleasing to see the consistently high standard of workmanship across all sites, reflecting the pride and professionalism of our teams on the ground
Across all states, teams are engaged, focused, and well positioned, with a substantial volume of work ahead. This level of activity not only reflects the strength of our current projects but also reinforces confidence in our ability to successfully deliver in the months ahead
As we continue to build on this momentum, I encourage everyone to take the time to familiarise themselves with the new plumbing and drainage standards available on the Building and Plumbing Commission website (VIC) or each states governing body. Staying up to date with these standards is essential to ensuring compliance, maintaining quality, and supporting best practice across all our projects
At the same time, we are closely monitoring global market conditions that may begin to influence our industry Ongoing geopolitical tensions, particularly in key oil-producing regions, are starting to place pressure on petrochemical supply chains. PVC resin, an essential component in the manufacture of pipes and fittings, is among the materials being impacted
Chadd, WA State Manager Jeff Hegarty & CJ Arms Design, Design Director Matt Murray recently visited the Pier Street development in WA for ICON which is progressing well.
Supply Chain Update: Navigating Global Pressures
Disruptions to major shipping routes, including those through the Middle East, are contributing to delays and increased freight costs In response, global supply is tightening, with some manufacturers adjusting availability, applying surcharges, or slowing shipments
We are also seeing early indicators such as:
Upward pressure on resin pricing driven by supply constraints and rising oil costs
Reduced output and export capacity from key manufacturing regions
Extended lead times and less certainty around delivery schedules
The potential for force majeure across parts of the plastics supply chain
This is already translating into notable cost pressures across key product lines, with indicative increases of:
HDPE pipe and fittings – up to 36%
Twinwall corrugated stormwater pipe and fittings – up to 31%
PVC pipe and fittings – up to 27%
While the direct impact to Australia remains limited at this stage, these conditions are creating a level of uncertainty that is likely to flow through to the local market over time This may present challenges such as:
Potential shortages of key materials
Increased project costs
Procurement pressures and possible project delays
With strong collaboration, forward planning, and a proactive approach, we are well placed to navigate these challenges and continue delivering successful outcomes across all regions.

DIRECTOR NEWS
CDPG Golf Day 2026
The annual CDPG Golf Day was recently held at Northern Golf Club in Glenroy (VIC), bringing together clients, partners and sponsors for a fantastic day on the course
The event kicked off with 18 holes of Ambrose, with plenty of great shots (and a few questionable ones) along the way. Golfers also took on the “Hole in One” challenge for the chance to win a trip to see the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day, adding an extra level of excitement to the competition
We were also fortunate to be joined by special guest Mark Allan, with teams having the opportunity to bid on using one of his shots to boost their score The day concluded with lunch and an engaging sports panel featuring Tom Morris, Mark Allan and Corey McKernan.
A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success, and to our sponsors for their continued support
Most importantly, all proceeds from the day will go towards the Indigenous Plumbing and Sanitation Foundation (IPSF)
We’re already looking forward to next year.

COOKE & DOWSETT VICTORIA
Rodney Smith - State Manager
Welcome to 2026. I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas break, which always seems to go by very quickly. It has certainly been an extremely busy start to the year not like previous years where things don’t usually pick up until after the Australia Day public holiday.
Several projects are already in full swing, keeping us busy maintaining program schedules and coordinating with other subcontractors on site.
In discussions with industry partners and several builders, there is some concern that the construction industry in Victoria may slow down due to a lack of government-funded projects and reduced investment in the private sector.
It is important that we remain vigilant, making sure we take advantage of every opportunity that presents itself and continue to explore opportunities within our core services across all sectors and regions of the state
At the moment, residential and infrastructure projects are in high demand for workers, with many shifting towards MMC (Modern Methods of Construction), including prefabrication and offsite manufacturing techniques to improve construction efficiency.

Ballarat Base Hospital Redevelopment - Built
The Ballarat Base Hospital Redevelopment continues to make strong progress, with the structure now nearing completion and four tower cranes currently operating on site A major milestone has also been reached with the installation of the helipad on Level 8, further highlighting the scale of the development.
The team are currently focused on services installation, including high-level water services and suspended HDPE drainage for sewer and stormwater Works are progressing across the basement, ground, Level 1 and Level 2 levels, with the building now beginning to take shape and develop its own identity
Looking ahead, the Stage 1 technical handover of the basement is scheduled for October this year This stage will present some unique logistical challenges, including maintaining a fully operational hospital kitchen while construction works continue within the building. The team on site continues to approach these challenges with professionalism and strong collaboration to ensure the successful delivery of the project
Check out the project website for further information:
Work continues to progress well at 435 Bourke Street, a landmark commercial development in the Melbourne CBD designed by Bates Smart
The project will deliver approximately 60,000 square metres of premium office space, along with retail space and a five-level basement with modern end-of-trip facilities
The team is now approaching the SP1 handover milestone, covering Basement 5 through to Level 8, including the Commonwealth Bank of Australia fitout across Levels 1 to 8 With core works complete, the project has moved into commissioning and quality assurance ahead of the handover held in March
Following this milestone, focus will shift to SP2, delivering the remainder of the tower from Level 9 to Level 52 later this year.
Keep an eye out for the new CDPG Quality stickers appearing across project sites around the country
These have been introduced as part of a broader initiative to reinforce our commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes on every project and continuing to provide outstanding value to our clients
As our industry continues to evolve - with an increasing focus on regulation, compliance and accountability - maintaining strong quality standards has never been more important. This campaign highlights CDPG’s ongoing commitment to quality, compliance and our goal of delivering projects with zero defects
As part of this initiative, we have undertaken a strategic review of our current QA processes and procedures This has included refining and improving our templates, forms and quality management plans to better support teams across the group in managing quality outcomes on site
