FROM THE DIRECTORS Well just like that, 2021 is nearly over and what a challenge it has been – COVID-19 related issues, construction industry lockdowns, mandatory vaccinations, riots and an earthquake just to top it off. It has been encouraging and personally rewarding to be part of such a great team witnessing everyone step up where needed, being mindful of others, working together with our clients, supply partners and industry stakeholders to achieve the Group’s objectives, all of which contribute to our successful business. Well done to all, as much as Teams and Zoom meetings have served their purpose you can switch us off for the Christmas period and enjoy some personal and family time. Hopefully early in 2022 the borders will open and we will be able to travel free without restrictions to catch up in person. We are looking forward to visiting the sites and State offices. There have been several highlights from the past few months that we would like to acknowledge; the introduction of Pathway Plumbing Services to the Group, including the very special Welcome to Country Smoking Ceremony and Cultural Awareness morning hosted by Ricky Morris & Kaelun Brown. The event was enlightening and enjoyable and has already had a positive impact on our team. Our long-term commitment and objectives towards Aboriginal employment and training has been strengthened and forms an integral part of the Group’s strategy towards achieving our social procurement objectives.

It also gives me great pleasure to congratulating and acknowledging the following employees for their individual outstanding achievements this year; • Blake Bin Swani (NUDJ Plumbing Service) on the successful completion of his plumbing apprenticeship. Blake who works and lives in Broome had to travel to Perth for his trade school and exams in these trying times. Blake never gave up and to see him cross the line is very rewarding to all involved, in particular his mentor and Manager, Ethan Corpus. • Congratulations to Niki Fischer (Cooke & Dowsett Rosetta Plumbing) for taking out the “Achievement in Construction” award, at the Tasmanian NAWIC 2021 ceremony held at Wrest Point Casino. • Paul Harrington (Cooke & Dowsett Albury) for is professionalism in providing technical knowledge in hydraulic design for the IWSH Project (International Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) who had teamed up with the Rwandan Plumbing Organisation (RPO) in Central Africa to deliver a new toilet block to the Munazi Primary School in the Gisagara District of Southern Province, Rwanda. (Refer trailing article for further info). Such a great cause to be involved in. • Andrew Thompson (Cooke & Dowsett) who won the Third Year Apprentice Award of the Year (EBA) at the Master Plumbers Queensland Awards night. • Project Manager Mark Dalton (Cooke & Dowsett) for riding with Wayne Schwass` s recent “PukaUp” foundation bike ride which raised an amazing $617,000 - PukaUp is a cause-driven organisation established to achieve their vision of ending suicide. As mental health advocates and storytellers, they believe education and facilitating open conversations about mental and emotional wellbeing is the key to keeping people healthy and ultimately preventing suicide. • All Cooke & Dowsett Plumbing Group Apprentices, a very warm welcome and congratulations to all our new first year apprentices. We would also like to give a special mention to all the female apprentices we have had the privilege of hosting recently from the Master Plumbers Association.

PATHWAYS PLUMBING SERVICE Cooke & Dowsett have been working with Pathway Plumbing Services since 2020 and we are pleased to announce the strengthening of this partnership by welcoming Pathway Plumbing Services to the Cooke & Dowsett Group. Pathway Plumbing Services was formed by Ricky Morris and Kaelun Brown and is one of the first 100% Indigenous owned plumbing companies with a vision of providing a work platform that promotes employment, mentoring and training opportunities for Aboriginal people who are considering a career in the plumbing industry and offer a culturally safe environment to learn and build individual capacity. From the initial meeting, it was evident that both parties shared similar values, principles, and goals. From this point the decision was unanimous and a strong working relationship was formed. The learnings and strengths have been very rewarding for both companies with business partners Ricky Morris and Kaelun Brown bringing 30 years of plumbing experience whilst acting as guiding spirits for young Aboriginal people for many years, through mentoring and education of Indigenous culture. Pathway Plumbing have been working on a number of projects including Melbourne Docklands Studio Soundstage Six, Chelsea and Glen Huntly Train Station Upgrade, Melbourne Metro Tunnel and Stations Melbourne Indigenous Training School – Interim Boarding House project for Kane Constructions, they have recently been awarded the Northcote Aquatic Centre Redevelopment also for Kane Constructions. With Pathway Plumbing’s established workforce consisting of Indigenous licenced plumbers and four training apprentices, paired with Cooke & Dowsett the alliance is a natural fit. The IWSH foundation (International Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) have teamed up with the Rwandan Plumbing Organisation (RPO) in Central Africa to deliver a new toilet block to the Munazi Primary School in the Gisagara District of Southern Province, Rwanda.

Paul Harrington (Cooke & Dowsett Albury) was selected by IWSH to assist a group of Australian Architects and two plumbers from the RPO in Rwanda to join Zoom workshops in August 2021. The purpose of the workshops was to conduct interviews with the local community leaders, the school principal and school members to gather information about the schools’ requirements in order to build a suitable toilet block that would service the school’s 800 students. The group put together a suitable design for the new building which consisted of separate male and female zones, disabled access and water storage tanks for local squat toilets.

We all know that the lead-up to Christmas is traditionally busy at both home and work and when we are rushed to meet tight deadlines, the chances of mistakes are higher and can lead to serious, or even tragic incidents.

The design was then presented to the school for approval, IWSH now intend to engage local contractors to construct the facility. This is the first time IWSH has conducted a virtual design with the pandemic obviously not allowing the normal on-site design week. Construction is planned to commence in 2022. 2021 has been tough year and with the holiday season fast approaching, many if not all of us are keen to get 2021 over and done with.

Now more than ever its important to keep safety front of mind - no deadline is worth an injury and/or someones life. The largest percentage of all workplace fatalities occur in November and December and it is crucial that we all understand the risks associated with the busy preChristmas period and work together to prevent a workplace injury. The safest workplace is the one where we stop, take time and think about the work we are doing and plan to do it safely, it could make the difference between life and death. Before starting work: • Do a self-check to see if you are fit for work • Ensure your head is in the game and you are able to focus on your work. • Complete an inspection of your work area as well as any tools or equipment used. • Take 5 to ensure all the necessary safeguards are in place, i.e., SWMS & PPE • Stop work if needed to address and report hazards. Don’t become a Christmas statistic, for the sake of your family and friends, make workplace safety your number one priority.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT The past couple of years have presented a challenging time for face-to-face training, COVID ensured we were limited in what we could offer to the team, however on a positive note, with the country reopening to on-site learning, we will be investing in developing a training calendar leading into 2022. This will kick off with a number of internal training opportunities, delivered by our leaders and mentors, in conjunction with dedicated Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s) delivering specific and related topics to enhance our employee skills. We are also partnering with a number of education institutions to offer job opportunities, intern programs and becoming an employer of choice for students looking to enter the industry. MEET THE TEAM Jude Fitcher joins the team with a strong background in providing payroll management across a variety of work environments. In her most recent roll Jude was responsible for multiple end-to-end payrolls across various awards and EBA’s, year-end payroll and providing support to HR and management. Jude will be responsible for processing payroll for the Group in accordance with awards, policy and agreed interpretations. Nida Syeda has over 2 years’ experience as an architect in Middle East and recently completed her Masters in Project Management. She is very passionate about working and gaining hands on experience in the construction industry. Nida is very ambitious and aspires to become a Project Manager in the future and looks forward to learning and gaining experience at Cooke & Dowsett. During her free time, she loves to read different genre books and travel. Parwinder Gill has been working with the Design team on a 12-week work placement as part of Melbourne Polytechnic’s Overseas-Qualified Professionals Program (OQP), which assists job-skilled ready migrants further consolidate their local experience. Parwinder recently accepted a Project Administrator role with Cooke & Dowsett has shown a real thirst for broadening his local knowledge in the plumbing and construction space and we pleased to be able to offer him this career pathway opportunity. Lucia Glavas commenced with Cooke & Dowsett in in November in the role of Reception/ Administration at our head office in Victoria. Lucia has a strong work history in reception, administration and personal assisting. Lucia has two children, 2 grandchildren, is a singer (soloist) and plays rhythm guitar in a band. Lucia also finds time to paint fine art and loves painting people. Please join me in congratulating our new employees to the team! Teamwork at Sunshine Hospital

As we draw to a close on another year and hopefully with the restrictions of COVID-19 behind us, our pipeline of secured work ensures that the business is in a healthy and strong position moving into 2022. We recently secured the following projects; Epping Private Hospital and Northcote Aquatic Centre both with Kane Constructions and the main works package for the Pathway 144 – Royal Melbourne Hospital project with Lendlease. We are currently negotiating a number of other exciting projects which we will inform the team early in the New Year. A number of projects are drawing to a close in Geelong, however we are close to securing a major project which will continue to cement Cooke & Dowsett as a subcontractor of choice within the Geelong region. Pathway Plumbing has joined the Cooke & Dowsett Group and provides another alternative option in the market place providing social procurement benefits and employment opportunities for Indigenous apprentices. VICTORIA CLINIC We are approximately half way through the Victoria Clinic project a 52 patient-bed private psychiatric facility located in Prahran. Under the redevelopment plans, the hospital will grow to a total of 115 beds, with all new patient rooms to be single rooms. It will more than double the number of consulting suites, allowing an additional 15 Psychiatrists to practice onsite. Overall staffing levels will also dramatically increase from the current 120 employed at the Clinic, with an additional 200 staff. The development will also allow an expanded range of mental health services, including a dedicated women’s unit, expanded trauma-based services, an elderly care unit, as well as a rooftop gymnasium and outdoor garden area. This project has been heavily impacted by COVID-19 restrictions; however, Adam Robbins has continued to lead from the front and successfully deliver a number of inground tasks interfacing with the public and staff site access routes. CHELSEA RAIL CROSSING REMOVAL This project is due for completion early December and is being delivered by Ricky Morris and the Pathway Plumbing team. The new Chelsea Station is designed to enhance connections around the area, improve parking, provide designated bus bays, bike facilities and walking and cycling connections which will create more ways to get to the new Chelsea Station. The station design is inspired by the landscape and the use of natural materials and warm colours to create a coastal look and feel. The station canopy complements the Nepean Highway shopping precinct and the prominent signage marks the heart of the activity centre. The Pathway Plumbing team has been working around the clock during the rail shut down period, and are due for a wellearned break upon completion.

Buronga HealthOne – Buronga NSW (Joint CDA & NUDJ Plumbing Services Project) Image Credit Barpa Who would know summer is just around the corner, we have experienced large amounts of unseasonal rain, record low temperatures and staff working in the snow all in November! The country side is looking amazing though and the agriculture sector may see a bumper season which instills confidence throughout the entire region should it play out this way. After 18 months or more we are now able to travel freely between Victoria & NSW after the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, this has made staff movements a whole lot easier. Since the last newsletter Cooke & Dowsett Albury (CDA) have picked up a number of projects, varying in size, across three states from both our local estimators and the group estimating team. These include Wagga Wagga Christian College NSW, Riverina Conservatorium of Music (Wagga Wagga), FCJ College Benalla (Victoria), Mt Buller Central Penthouse (Victoria), Mainfreight Distribution Centre Adelaide & Bunnings in Murray Bridge (South Australia). We have seen two of our younger plumbers, Nathan Strang and Jack Avage, who both came through apprenticeships with CDA, take on their first roles as Site Managers in this past year. Charlie Avage completed his apprenticeship this year and Jimmy O’Brien is close to completing his first year - these younger guys are the future of the business. 2021 has been a year to remember as a result of the pandemic, it has impacted most of us directly or indirectly is some form or another whether be through work, family, friends, our children and their schooling. A large part of our 2021 work has required most of the CDA crew to travel far and wide, staying away for lengthy periods of time from family and friends, all have done so without any complaints or resistance which is a credit to each of our amazing team members, I would like to thank all the staff for their efforts over the past year including John Colley who churns out quote’s day after day, Craig Proctor who has spent a large part of the year on the road which can take its toll, Paul Harrington who has kept the local projects ticking along nicely and is now looking after the South Australian projects and Hannah Clarke who has since moved on. To Timmy Carberry and his crew at Batemans Bay, Paddy O’Brien and Josh Frez in and around Wagga, Ben Nichols and his crew here locally and all the CDA crew I would like to thank you all for your efforts over this past challenging year. 9

Lutheran Aged Care is progressing well with Ben Nicholls and his team completing the first 2 of 8 stages this year, with a further 6 stages and 2 years in the program this one is a marathon not a sprint. Xavier High School project has successfully wrapped up with Joss Constructions, Site Manager Jack Avage and the same site team have now transferred over to the new school project Wodonga Senior Secondary College also with Joss Constructions and are progressing well with in ground services. Our Buronga HealthOne project up in Mildura delivered in partnership with Nudj Plumbing Services has started to take shape with inground services scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. Nathan Strang is settling into his new Site Manager role well with the help and guidance of long-term subcontractor Dean Woodhardt, this project is on track to be completed mid2022. Cootamundra Abattoir New KG 2000 piping system At the Cootamundra Abattoir the site guys are pushing forward throughout the current battles with the weather up our way of late, continuing with the installation of site infrastructure fire, potable & sprinkler mains with the introduction of butt welding on all PE reticulation. We have also commenced on the installation of the new trade waste drainage system KG 2000 and 300mm Stainless Steel paunch line which has be challenging to say the least. Well done to Trent Brown, Ashley Miechel, Darcy Carroll and our new starter Conner Stewart. Batemans Bay Aquatic Center has been quite full on with a large array of work fronts open across the site, Rough-in, Fit off, High level services and the dreaded installation of around 380L/m of Heel Gard trench grating around the 25m pool, program pool and the splash park. Timmy Carberry continues to fly the Cooke & Dowsett flag high with the assistance of Jimmy O’Brien and our two Subbies, the old faithful Wayne Clement and Charlie Avage will be getting a call up to assist with ramping up the fire pump room towards the end of the month. We are on the home straight with the Kapooka Building Refurbishment with the final sections of Rough-in now completed and ready to roll into the fit off phase. Paddy O’Brien and Josh Frez have had quite a few hoops to jump through dealing with existing water supplies and live drainage system. Well done boys.

Cootamundra Abattoir Stainless Steel Punch Hoppers The Wagga Wagga Conservatorium of Music is a great project with a new client FDC Building out the ACT, with quite a bit of suspended drainage and new site sewer connection for and existing building will be a great challenge for Rhys Palmer and the Wagga team. We are confident that our trusted team members delivering this project will build a good relationship with FDC and put CDA in a perfect position to pick up future stages of this development. Young High School has had a slow start due to historical findings being located throughout the site, but we are finally getting some traction with the fit-off to building EE and the replacement of on existing fire tank with a segregated panel tank and relocation of fire pump sets which will bring us right to the death knock of Christmas. We look forward to delivering a first-class job for CDA and our client Joss Constructions. Wagga Wagga Christian College - Paddy O’Brien and Josh Frez have also been tested by the current weather but have pushed through and completed the below ground drainage and are rolling on the installation of civil stormwater works, with other trades being hot on their tails. Queens Wharf Level 8 Underslung Drainage Hello to everyone from up North here in sunny Queensland. If you weren’t quite sure what’s happened since the last newsletter, let me tell you - the mighty Demons won the AFL premiership that’s what! Congratulations to the Melbourne Football Club in displaying such an unbelievable level of charismatic and dominant class on the big stage, also congratulations to any life long suffering fellow Demons supporters out there….yewww! On the work front, we have our Queens Wharf and Inner-City Secondary College really starting to ramp up. The Star Grand Casino currently has 1000 men on site, it’s an impressive sized construction site one which we are super proud to be part of. Our contracted scope of works started at L8 across Towers 2/3 and we are currently punching out some very high-level underslung drainage at a steady rate and just about to make an impact on the typical floor plates in the coming weeks. Decks are moving along at a steady pace as well and we are currently setting out on L 12 on both towers. We are also in the process of starting up some pre fab works in our workshop to stay in front of program on this beast of a job.

On the small job front, our man for all seasons Dion Ruska continues to do more miles than an Uber driver, with work at multiple Bunnings stores doing amenity block refurbs, early work package work at Logan Hospital upgrade and some variation work from an older project at Coorparoo. Finally, congratulations to Thommo (Andrew Thompson) for winning best third year Apprentice at the recent MPAQ awards for 2021, the competition was fierce but our man Thommo got the job done! We also would like to formally welcome our first-year apprentice Murdo Vandorp-Tupuna to the crew. Stage 2 at the Inner-City Secondary College is really starting to take shape, with all structural slabs completed and roof structure commencing as we speak. We are working across many fronts at the moment, with our men on fire service, amenity block rough in, high level sewer and some high-level stormwater at 9m at finished floor level. The new state of the art plumbing training college PICAC Beenleigh is coming to a close with completion set for early January, at 443 Queen Street we are closing in on the end of an era, the Apartment Tower should be completed by Easter 2022 – which will leave the lobby and external works, I have no doubt that the time can’t come quick enough for Chris & Andy. Good old New Performing Art Centre (NPAV), unfortunately continues to track at a very slow pace with only 1 plumber required at the moment after a year of construction. By the time this newsletter is out and after 15 months construction the structure will be at L3 with another 7 floors still to come. The circumstances around our Cairns job are eerily similar to NPAV in more ways than one. To Luke & Tommy - hang in their guys, it will be busy in 2022.

Lot 1B is still on lower ground, Lot 1A hotel is starting to prepare for the podium slab deck, 2A Nursing Home has the podium deck built and waiting for columns. The design on 2B is current being finalised. After Christmas should see these towers go ahead quickly.

The structure of the two towers at Elizabeth Quay (EQ) is progressing quickly with Tower A now up to level 36 out of 52 and Tower B up to 14 out of 25. As you can imagine the view is getting better but windy WA is proving to be very true to form with stiff breezes coming up the Swan River. The builder is currently pouring a floor a week at both towers so the penetration and cast-ins are keeping us busy. The hydraulic design is getting closer to completion and we are currently working on a prototype floor with a busy time expected here next year. Enjoy your Christmas break.

Indigo – start of the subsoil drains

Indigo Hotel and Apartments have fired up with our drainage works well under way, after we managed to escape New Zealand’s longest COVID-19 lock down to date. Construction has recommenced under Level 3 in September after enduring a full lock down on Level 4 for 5 weeks prior, in response we are strictly following the governments COVID-19 protocols on-site. As the project is still in the design phase, we were able to crack on working from home with client Icon, the design team and our engaged Hydraulic Services Consultants (HSCNZ Ltd - Director Pete Downey). We have a great relationship with these guys, having worked closely on both Pacifica Apartments and Bunnings Westgate in the past. The lock down period has allowed me to work closely with the hydraulic designers and consultants and gain valuable insight into many aspects of hydraulic design implementing best practices. HSC are well known in the New Zealand Hydraulic Design industry and I have been privileged to work alongside Pete and his team who have a real passion for the industry and strive to provide the best possible hydraulic design solution. I would like to thank all of the PPM team for successfully navigating through another tough lockdown that put uncertainty into what the next day looked like. The team have delivered outcomes in some tricky environments especially with customers that were not favourable of any additional visits into their homes and work places. PPM have handed over their first construction project with McCormack (Coca Cola Amatil) in Heatherton thanks to James Climas and Carl Misson who successfully delivered this project and reinforced our relationship resulting in future opportunities. We are looking forward to the continual delivery of small to medium commercial projects James, Jordan Purcell and Carl have developed an excellent working relationship - assisting and helping each other is definitely something they do well. The CSIRO Laboratory project was completed in October and supervised by Jordan Purcell. Melbourne CBD office fit outs are keeping the guys busy especially in the Queen & Collins Towers recently handed over by Cooke & Dowsett. PPM have plenty of opportunities in this sector which is very competitive so it’s imperative that we have a good understand of the market prices and continue to deliver the best quality outcomes for all involved. PPM have been successful in securing ongoing maintenance contracts post Cooke & Dowsett’ s defect liability period on several projects which has been greatly received by facility managers who see the benefits of the relationship between Cooke & Dowsett and PPM having a broader knowledge of the overall project. Emergency and adhoc maintenance have increased significantly over the last 4 to 6 weeks as facilities start to become more populated, last count was around 180 job allocations in the last 6 weeks which is keeping both Desiree and Peter on their toes. SHELL OFFSHORE OIL RIG MAINTENANCE

CYGNET BAY ECO RESORT STAGE 1 NUDJ Plumbing Services were engaged for the expansion of the Cygnet Bay Eco Resort which is located 180km’s north of Broome on the Dampier Peninsular. The work includes the refurbishment of existing facilities and the installation of sewer pumps, leach drains, baffle tanks and sewer treatment plant to service the new accommodation. Stage 1 is due for completion in early 2022 with stage 2 to follow.

Maintenance works are continuing on the oil rig with the usual commute via chopper – I was recently out on the rig for a week completing our usual preventative maintenance on ice machines, coffee machines, changing filters, drain maintenance as well as changing the isolation valves located in cabin maintenance hatches and unblocking vaccum system toilets. We have a great relationship with Shell and Sodexo who are seeking our sevices regularly.

Congratulations to Blake Bin Swani who has recently completed his apprenticeship with Nudj Plumbing Services. Blake is a fantastic asset to the team and has worked on a variety of projects with Nudj Plumbing always happy to go the extra mile. Another year is coming to an end, blink and it will be Christmas and then a new year, yet again. Teams are no doubt ready and have earned a well-earned end of year break, a chance to take stock of yet another year, likely to leave memories for largely the wrong reasons, and to recharge the batteries ready to go again. Yet amongst the challenges and adversities of the year, team Cooke & Dowsett Rosetta (CDR) has had a very busy year of what we do best….. plumbing. We have had a number of fabulous project wins, expanded into the Launceston market, some Tasmanian legacy projects progressing nicely and some drawing to close.

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) is an Australian, not-for-profit organisation, led by a team of passionate volunteers who all strive to help champion and empower women in the construction and related industries to reach their full potential. NAWIC celebrates women and helps women that want to be in construction. CDR look forward to tapping into this fantastic association and networking with other industry colleagues.

Last month CDR secured another fabulous project in Launceston with our friends and partners Fairbrother Constructions. Work has now begun on the University of Tasmania’s largest building in its Launceston campus as it relocates into the suburb of Inveresk. The new building located in Willis St will be the new home of Nursing, Allied Health and Food Science. Willis St is set to become a high-end science laboratory of over 10,000 square meters. The design of the building has two wings, one for students and the other for important research and upon completion, is to be known as ‘The Shed’ in a nod to the sites past, when it was previously home to two very large railway sheds.
