The Theme Timing is everything! When is the right time to innovate? When is the wrong time? There is a fine line between the success and failure of innovation within the AECO industry, a line that our panelists have been on the right and wrong side. The Visionaries Forum’s p r i m a r y focus has been on those individuals that are on the line. They may even be on the success side of the line. Most of our panel members are those individuals. This year we learn from their experiences with innovations that did not quite make it to the success side. Failure is beneficial to individu-
als, companies, and industries. It’s how limits are identified, how ideas grow, and how we teach others. Almost all innovation comes with failure. The industry should accept and embrace this fact. As Henry Ford put it, “The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.” The Forum Now in its 13th year, the Construction Institute’s Visionaries Forum is the premier platform for thought-leaders to explore what is next in the industry. The Visionaries Forum gives you an opportunity to look ahead, to pause from dayto-day focus, and to engage with the kind of creativity that will help the industry move into the future.
