Pace Construction Company LLC and its partners are making good on the July 15, 2018 delivery date for the Missouri Department of Transportation’s (MoDOT) $25 million Route 141 at I-44 Improvement Design-Build Project in St. Louis. The design-build project, which began in CEG CORRESPONDENT

June 2016, has Pace working with AECOM Technical Services Inc., Kuesel Excavating Company Inc. and the Lochmueller Group. The project is being funded by MoDOT and FHWA. The project’s goals include maximizing traffic flow on Route 141 and improving efficiency at the I-44 interchange and Vance Road intersection, improve driver safety and creating a long-

lasting transportation facility that minimizes future maintenance. In addition, the project will improve left turns to Marshall and Vance Road using signalized ThrU Turns, according to the project web page. Two KDOT Projects Receive National Awards Two Kansas Department of Transportation construction projects won national awards at the 28th annual American Concrete Pavement conference on Nov. 30 in San Diego, Calif. The South Lawrence Trafficway (SLT) was a gold winner in the Divided Highways (Rural) category. The 6-mi., $183 million SLT project in Douglas County opened to traffic in November 2016. It completed the loop around

Lawrence connecting K-10 and the KTA. The U.S. 56 (Ensign and Montezuma) reconstruction was a gold winner in the State Roads category. The U.S. 56 project in Gray County was a full depth reconstruction, including about 1 mi. of roadway in the cities of Ensign and Montezuma. The work also included storm sewer improvements. The SLT also received a Sustainable Practices Recognition award. The award

highlights the efforts to protect plants and animals in the Baker Wetlands while constructing a long-lasting highway. The ACPA awards program highlights high-quality concrete pavement projects and serves to share information about challenging/successful projects.
