Our rural ancestors were acutely aware of just how potent mountain hay from the Dolomites can be. Rich in herbs and flowers, it gives off an incomparable aroma, recognizable only as a freshly mown meadow in full bloom.
The Original Völser Heubad® combines tradition and progress, allowing the benefits of natural mountain hay to come to fruition.
Release. You’ll spend 15 to 20 minutes immersed in warm, damp hay in a heated soft-pack bathtub. Afterwards you’ll rest, snuggly covered, on a chaise longue for about a half hour. We recommend a partial massage to round out your hay bath.
Effects. Hay baths have been used successfully for over a century. In addition to detoxifying, purifying and invigorating the body, hay baths help restore that feeling of being perfectly balanced and can even improve overall wellbeing. Perspiring while immersed in hay strengthens the immune system and stimulates the metabolism as well. In addition, hay flowers are wonderful for the skin.
Origin. We source our lush herbs and grasses from unfertilized meadows atop the Seiser Alm plateau, at elevations of more than 2,000 meters. We ensure the high quality of our hay, and thus our hay baths, by performing a single cutting at flowering time (between mid-July and mid-August) and through gentle drying and storage. These techniques also strikingly intensify the fragrance of the hay.
Our treatments at the Heubad Spa use the products of South Tyrolean manufacturers Trehs and Vitalis Dr. Joseph, who share our love of natural, local ingredients and resources.
HAY-BASED TREATMENTS
HAY PACK
As with the hay bath, this treatment involves spending 25 minutes immersed in hot, damp hay. It is gentler on the circulatory system than a hay bath.
HAY RELAXATION MASSAGE
Your legs are massaged whilst cushions filled with hay from the Seiser Alm warm your back. The back massage that follows helps ease strained muscles and the scent of the alpine herbs relaxes your mind and soul.
HAY EXFOLIATION
Enjoy a gentle yet deep cleansing of the body with meadow flowers and apricot kernels. After a relaxing shower your skin is nourished and pampered with the finest mountain hay oil and mountain hay lotion.
HAY AROMA MASSAGE
We use Trehs® Mountain Hay Massage Oil for this classic full-body massage. The unmistakable aroma of mountain hay helps you relax and the treatment gives your skin that healthy glow.

CLASSIC MASSAGE
The classic back or whole body massage is an ideal complement to the hay bath. It promotes circulation and brings about a loosening, stretching and relaxing of the muscles as well as the removal of metabolic products (toxins). Where needed, our therapists use high quality products by Vitalis Dr. Joseph and cupping glasses.
LYMPHATIC MASSAGE
Like the circulatory system, the lymphatic system runs through the whole body. Lymphatic massage involves using circular, stroking movements to stimulate the lymphatic pathways. Blockages are thus dissolves, resulting in a detoxifying and purifying effect. This massage is particularly recommended in cases of fluid retention and swelling.

The Aromatherapy Massage combines the beneficial effects of classical massage with the specific individual effects of the essential oils. Highly concentrated plant essences are thus mixed with various oils, and used for massage. Depending on which oils are selected, the aromatherapy massage can be relaxing, balancing or revitalizing; it can improve concentration or restore calm; it can also help prevent stress-related symptoms from appearing. Vine water distils all of the power of the vineyard. When the vines are cut back in spring, valuable and mineral-rich vine water can be obtained from the cut surfaces. Booking: In order to reserve the appointment times you would like, we recommend that you book your treatments in advance of your arrival.
Arrival: We appreciate it if you would arrive 5 minutes before your appointment time, already dressed in a bathrobe. That way, you’ll have a chance to ready yourself for your appointment with a relaxing cup of tea. We recommend that men who choose a facial shave a few hours before your treatment.
Appointment Cancellation: If something unexpected happens, and you cannot make your appointment please cancel 12 hours in advance. Otherwise we will have to charge 50% of the booked service.
