WHAT DOES THIS EXECUTIVE ORDER DO? This order prevents the use of federal funds to support any educational practices deemed discriminatory. Specifically, the order asserts that public school curricula should avoid content that promotes concepts such as systemic racism, privilege, or implicit bias. The Trump Administration argues that these teachings contribute to division and undermine national unity. The order prohibits federally funded teacher training programs from including diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) frameworks that incorporate discussions of systemic racism or implicit bias. The order removes federal funding from schools promoting what it deems “gender ideology” and “discriminatory ideology.” The order also reestablishes the 1776 Commission to “promote patriotic education.”
