BEYOND THE BOARDROOM
As we wrap up the 2025–2026 year, I can’t help but reflect on what a busy, meaningful, and rewarding year it has been at CBI.
This month, we proudly celebrated our SLJ 10th Grade Confirmands, 12th Grade Graduates, and NCECE Pre-K Graduates. We also held our Annual Meeting, where, thanks to the continued support of our congregation, both our operating budget and new Trustees were approved. Congratulations to our newly elected Trustees, and a heartfelt thank you to our outgoing Board members for their dedication and service. Our final Board meeting of the year will take place on June 3.
On July 1, we look forward to officially welcoming Rabbi Cy Stanway and Rabbi Erica Rosenkranz on the Bimah. We hope you will
join us as we celebrate Independence Day weekend and begin this exciting new chapter for our clergy team.
Looking ahead to the fall, our long-awaited Capital Campaign will formally launch shortly after Yom Kippur, and we look forward to sharing more details in the months ahead. As part of this next phase for CBI, the initial focus of our campus renovation efforts will be on our NCECE and SLJ classrooms, with additional campus improvements planned for the future.
As we move forward together, we are committed to creating opportunities to connect more deeply, learn, and grow as a community. While our new clergy bring a wealth of fresh ideas and meaningful learning opportunities to invigorate congregational life, we also welcome the ideas, perspectives, and contributions of each and every one of you.
Your voice is invaluable. Every thought, suggestion, and prayer adds to the vibrant tapestry of our community. Together, we can build a future that honors our past while embracing new possibilities.

Rabbinic Search Committee Update
Dear Congregants,
Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent Rabbinic Search Listening Groups. Your thoughtfulness, honesty, and deep care for our community were truly felt, and your input is already helping to shape this important process.
As we continue the search for our next Senior Rabbi, we invite all congregants to share their perspectives by completing our community survey.

This survey is an important opportunity to ensure that the voices of our community help guide our path forward, including the sacred work of selecting our next Senior Rabbi.
We also want to address some questions that have come up regarding the appointment of Interim Senior Rabbi Cy Stanway Bringing in an Interim Senior Rabbi is a thoughtful and intentional step, recommended by the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR) and widely used by congregations during times of transition Interim rabbis have been very successful in helping congregations navigate these periods with strength and clarity An interim rabbi partners closely with our clergy, staff, and Board of Trustees to support and strengthen the community, build leadership capacity, and help lay a strong foundation for the next chapter In keeping with CCAR guidelines, an interim rabbi is not eligible to be considered for the permanent Senior Rabbi position
The search process itself unfolds in stages, allowing us to thoughtfully review candidates and move forward with care and intention In alignment with CCAR practices, the process does not operate on a single fixed deadline for candidates; instead, resumes are received and reviewed on a rolling basis as they are submitted Our anticipated timeline is as follows:
August 2026: CBI submits formal application to CCAR
September 2026: Begin receiving resumes
Fall 2026 through Winter 2027: Candidate interviews
July 1, 2027: Installation of our new Senior Rabbi
We are committed to a process that is thoughtful, inclusive, and transparent, and we are deeply grateful for the engagement and partnership of our community at every step
