Equally important is the work of our club staff, who have done an outstanding job ensuring the space is cleaned, organized, and ready for members each day after construction work concludes. Spring is here! Finally! It has been a long winter where we couldn’t play on the course for extended period. The greens that were under the snow for 35 days were a blessing considering how cold the air was. It protected the turf from that freezing arctic air. We were pleased with the golf course at this point as far as winterkill damages, there are none on the course.
Right now, we are waiting to get out on the course. We have a lot of work to do before the season is in full swing. Martins still need to come and remove 24 dying trees. We still need to rebuild 3 green tees (6, 9, and 12). At the same time, we need to fill stump holes left of #4 (at the bend) and driving range area. We also need to finish cutting woody plants out of the creek banks. Many thanks to Robert and Chandlir for starting that project back in early winter! And lastly, we will be widening the approaches onto the greens. We are not a fan of these bottleneck approaches.
Our maintenance plans for spring, Hummer will be aerating our fairways on April 6th (Monday). They will aerate, drag the plugs, and blow the fairways clean in one day. We will aerate tees and collars in house especially on Monday. Greens are all done (November aeration) and ready to go!
See you on the course.
Matt Turner
