US Admissions Night: Myths Fact or Fiction?

At Concordian, university counseling is not only about guiding students through the maze of applications, it is also about equipping families with the knowledge to separate truth from rumor. On September 16th, the Counseling Department hosted a US Admissions Night: Myths – Fact or Fiction, an engaging and informative evening that brought students, parents, and university representatives together in a format unlike any other.

Adding a spark of fun, Ms. Johanna stepped into the role of Concordian’s very own game show host! With infectious energy, she invited families to cast their votes, was a statement a fact or a fiction? This interactive approach not only kept the audience on their toes but also set the stage for some surprising revelations about the US university admissions process. The night featured insights from three distinguished guests: representatives from Tufts University, University of California, Santa Cruz, and the University of Oregon. Their honest, behind-the-scenes perspectives gave Concordian families a rare glimpse into how admissions officers actually think, and why many common myths about US admissions persist.
