G12 Design Exhibit 2026 Celebrating Excellent Internal Assessment (IA) Success!
What is the Design Technology IA? The IB DP Design Technology Internal Assessment (IA) is built around six key criteria that take students through the full design process, very similar to how real designers and engineers work in industry. The IA challenges students to think creatively, solve real-world problems, and communicate their ideas clearly and effectively. Criterion A: Analysis - Students research the problem, users, and existing products. Criterion B: Conceptual Design -Students create and explore different design ideas before choosing the best one. Criterion C: Development -Students improve their design through testing, feedback, and changes. Criterion D: Testing & Evaluation -The final product is tested and evaluated to see how successful it is. Criterion E: Communication - Students clearly present ideas using sketches, CAD, annotations, and presentations. Criterion F: Application of Skills- Students demonstrate practical making skills and safe use of tools and equipment.
