What makes the Big Science Competition especially valuable is that the questions are not simply about remembering facts. Instead, students are asked to think carefully, interpret information and use their understanding of science in meaningful and contemporary contexts. Our Grade 8 students approached the challenge with enthusiasm, focus and dedication. It was wonderful to see them engaging so positively with the experience, showing curiosity and resilience as they worked through unfamiliar and thoughtprovoking questions. For many students, the competition provided an opportunity to see how science connects to the wider world and how scientific thinking can be used to solve problems beyond the classroom.
