Tips on Maintaining That New Look at Your Home

Your home is a major investment, if not the biggest, and you want to keep it in mint condition. You can maintain the new look by taking care of the paint job. Here are a few tips on how to maintain that freshly painted look and keep your home in mint condition.

Maintaining Interior Walls The quality of paints, workmanship, and extent of care will determine how often you need to repaint your house interior. Below are some tips on how to care for the interior.

Check and Clean Spots and Stains You can’t stop the interior walls from getting spots and stains. Your best defense is to identify them and clean them up as soon as they appear. So, routinely check and clean high traffic areas such as staircase walls and kids’ bedrooms. Also, pay attention to areas where pets like to play and where furniture comes into contact with the walls. Most interior paints are washable. Therefore, a soft sponge, warm water with a little dishwashing detergent will do the trick.

Deal with Mold Warm and humid rooms such as bathrooms and basements are susceptible to mold especially if you didn't use mold resistant paint. Nonetheless, if you find an infestation, you can clean it off using a solution of one part bleach to four parts water. Better still, have a painting contractor come over to check out the damage and offer a more permanent solution.

Prevent Fading The best way to prevent fading is by investing in high-quality paint. But, if you’re not sure of the quality of paint, you can slow it down using curtains or by tinting your windows with a UV protector to block out direct sunlight.
