Este edificio polivalente dinamiza una densa zona urbana, con un uso cultural y comercial. El material cerámico en la fachada sur vibra junto a las palmeras de la plaza.
El edificio se sitúa en un área urbana muy densa, con una trama viaria escasa y espacios libres prácticamente inexistentes. Para obtener el solar se derribo el antiguo mercado, como estructura obsoleta, con objetivo de reutilizar de un modo más intensivo ese lugar.
The building is situated in a dense urban area, with a poor road network and practically nonexist and open space. As to obtain the solar, the old market was demolished, this being an obsolete structure, with the aim of re-using the place in a more intensive way.
El nuevo edificio Fondo es una dotación polifuncional que pretende dar respuesta a las necesidades y requerimientos de la ciudad densa, concentrando al mismo tiempo en un único volumen funciones diversas que normalmente se encuentran dispersas en la ciudad y vinculadas a la planta baja.
The new building “Fondo” is a polyfunctional endowment which pretends to respond to the needs and requirements of the dense city, while concentrating in one only volume, diverse functions that are normally scattered throughout the city and linked to the ground floor.
La Arquitectura pretende multiplicar la “cota cero” generando en cada nivel las cualidades de una nueva planta baja en desarrollo vertical, enlazándola con la accidentada topografía del barrio, actuando así como rótula y activador de los flujos urbanos.
The architecture aims to multiply the “zero level”, generating in each level the qualities of a new floor in vertical development, linking it to the hilly topography of the neighbourhood, acting as activator of the urban flow.
