April 23, 2020 Hello Church Family, During the COVID-19 pandemic, Community Church has adapted to current municipal, State & national guidelines. Along with being followers of Christ, serving our community and being good citizens is our number one priority. Since March 15th, 2020, we have not held any in-person gatherings that violate government or health department guidelines. Everything including, but not limited to, services, the meeting of staff and volunteers has been completed online. On April 22, Governor J. Kevin Stitt rolled out a 3-phase reopening plan starting on May 3rd. •

Phase one, effective May 3rd, allows places of worship can reopen for in-person meetings or worship if they leave every other row or pew open and adhere to CDC-recommended social distancing and sanitation protocols, plus the recommended guidelines from the Oklahoma Department of Commerce. We understand this date and conditions will work for some churches and not for other churches.

Phase two, effective May 15th, allows funerals and weddings, children’s nursery areas in places of worship, and organized sports activities to reopen and operate under proper social distancing and sanitation protocols. However, visits to Senior Care Facilities and Hospitals should still be prohibited.

Phase three, effective June 1st, Governor Stitt’s plan allows summer camps (church and school) to reopen with only Senior Care Facilities and Hospitals remaining closed to the public. Federal, State, and CDC social distancing and sanitation protocols are lifted.

After careful consideration and consultation with our leadership team, we believe the opening date for Community Church will be May 24th. This is a soft date and may be changed to May 31st or later, depending on data or guidelines from the State or CDC as they are released. Waiting at least the 14-day COVID incubation period after May 1st will allow us to see what COVID does. If no resurgence, we keep moving toward May 24th. We are planning May 31st (Pentecost Sunday) is going to be a special day of celebration of no restrictions! We will continue to make “Church@Home” or “Church Online” available. We have learned a lot about having an online church and plan to continue this ministry component after we reopen our campus. Stay safe! Love God. Love Others. Pastor Bill
