HE Hills Shire councillor who voted against a motion stopping spending ratepayers’ monies on local LGBTQI+ events expressed concerns some residents now feel “afraid and isolated” in their own community. In an ordinary council meeting on February 6, a majority, or 10 of the 13 shire councillors rejected the Local Government NSW mo-
tion by Sydney City Council carried out in late last year’s conference urging its 128 member councils to help promote LGBTQI+ events in their communities. After the council meeting on February 6, Clr Mila Kasby, of the NSW Greens Party who voted against the motion by Liberal Party Clr Jerome Cox, said LGBTQIA+ residents were “visibly upset, some were crying."
