WESTBOROUGH — Ferris Development Group wants to build four fivestory buildings with a total of 252 oneand two-bedroom apartments at One Research Drive, land that is currently mostly parking spaces. If constructed, the buildings would become home to about 372 people, the developer said. Each building would have about 50 underground parking spaces. SHREWSBURY – Will this proposed development significantly impact traffic? The developers say ‘No.’ Others say ‘Yes.’ On Aug. 25, the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) discussed traffic with Hingham-based Saxon Partners, which is seeking to construct a 300unit multifamily rental development. The site, 104 Main Street, is a 5.8-acre parcel wedged between North Quinsigamond Avenue, Main Street, and Interstate 290 in the northwest corner of town. NORTHBOROUGH – A century after their grandparents first tilled the soil, Mike and Glen Berberian are carrying on the family tradition at Berberian’s Farm on Otis Street in Northborough. What began as a small operation has grown into a thriving local staple. Originally a fruit farm, Berberian’s has grown considerably over the years, expanding into vegetables and other freshgrown produce. Mike and Glen have been at the helm of the family business for 30 years, running the farm and caring for its 45 to 50 acres. “We’ve grown and expanded, and the farm today has been very successful,” Mike Berberian told the Community
Advocate. “We have all our customers to thank for their support. Without them, this place wouldn’t be the way it is today.” Berberian’s faced several obstacles throughout the 100 years, especially around World War II, as the business was passed between generations. Mike Berberian’s father went to war at the time, sending his military money home to help the farm. “It was a real struggle for them because everything was horse and buggy, and you had to bring [the products] to Worcester to a market,” Mike Berberian said. “You weren’t getting the money you needed to get.” What was once a wholesale operation — bringing what they were grow-
