Hudson High welcomes new school resource officer

HUDSON - When Nick Lampson was in high school, the Shrewsbury native looked up to his school resource officer (SRO), Mark Hester. “My school resource officer in high school had a large influence on why I wanted to become a cop in general,” Lampson said. “I thought it [being a school resource officer] would be a cool position to be involved with.” Now, Lampson patrols the halls of Hudson High School. Lampson graduated from Shrewsbury and then attended the University of Massachusetts Lowell where he earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in criminal justice. After graduating college, Lampson landed a job working for the Hudson
MARLBOROUGH – The city’s Health Department will soon add a substance use prevention coordinator and intervention specialist. According to Director of Public Health John Garside, once the City Council approves the position, the Board of Health would advertise it “hopefully within a couple of months.” During the Sept. 13 City Council meeting, the measure was sent to the Finance Committee, with words of support from City Councilors David Doucette and Mark Oram. “I think this is a big win for addressing some of the needs in the community,” Coordinator | 5

Board rejects one-day liquor license changes By Laura Hayes Managing Editor HUDSON – A Select Board member’s proposed changes to one-day liquor license regulations would have increased the cost to permit Medusa Brewing Company’s beer garden by 3650%. Select Board member Shawn Sadowski presented the proposed changes during
the Sept. 12 meeting, which were ultimately not implemented. Sadowski said he looked at the regulations in other towns and wanted to make changes to make Hudson’s up-to-date and “flow with the surrounding towns.” Under Hudson’s current regulations, Hudson’s one-day licenses are subject to the applicant supplying proof of sufficient Medusa | 12
