Developers propose 40B housing project on Main Street in Shrewsbury By Caroline Gordon Reporter SHREWSBURY - A nearly 200-unit housing development may be coming to Shrewsbury. KIG Real Estate Advisors presented their plans for a proposed 40B housing development at 104 Main Street to the Board of Selectmen on Aug. 23. The developers are proposing to construct the project as a “friendly 40B,” meaning that it would be constructed through the state Department of Housing and Community Development Local Initiative Program (LIP) and would allow the town to negotiate with the developers. According to Massachusetts State Law, in each municipality, at least 10% of the housing stock must be affordable. The current percentage of the affordable housing stock in Shrewsbury is 6.42%. 104 Main Street | 9

Northborough native seeks kidney ‘I want to be there for [my daughter]’ By Caroline Gordon Reporter NORTHBOROUGH - Firefighter Mike Serapiglia risks his life to save others. Now, his family needs help from the community to save the life of his son, Jeff. Hudson resident and Northborough native Jeff Serapiglia was diagnosed with Alport Syndrome in 2012 at 21-years-old. Alport Syndrome is an inherited disorder that damages the tiny blood vessels in the kidneys and causes hearing loss and eye problems, which Jeff is now suffering from. Due to the disease, Jeff is suffering from kidney failure and in need of a kidney transplant. “I have a three-year-old daughter who I want to see grow old and get married.
